The Art of Storytelling

Silence reigns across an age,

Mercurial through sifting page.

Now listen to me rail this stage.

The drums begin to pound.

Whispers of a bygone era:

Kings and crowns, of Zeus and Hera.

Over told, these stories heard a

Thousand times before.

History repeats, too many

Lost are souls who brave the eddy

Swirls of time, relentless, heady,

Wash the fools away.

Be careful not to push too fast.

Ambitious bastards never last.

They're taken out by their own blast.

Life does not forgive.

The slow and steady win the race.

My mother hates it when I pace,

But metronomes hold God in place.

Hearts beat slow in time.

Make smart choices, don't be brash.

It may be wise to hide your stash.

The tongue can hurt more than the lash.

Rule behind the scenes.

Defeat the trails one at a time.

Don't lose your rhythm or your rhyme.

The day will come to face your crime.

Until then live on.

I tell you this to make you wise

To storytellers and their lies.

Across the finish waits no prize.

Find your own reward.
