Love stories have been told since the beginning of time. I believe even cavemen told stories of boys and girls in love. Most love stories are simple. A boy and a girl, born only to love each other. Made for each other.

But this one, dear readers, is the exact opposite. Two people, the only purpose of their births being to kill each other.

Perhaps I should tell you the prophecy. Ah, maybe I shouldn’t…what I will tell you, though, that there is no promise of a happy ending here. If you like love stories were the couple rides of into a sunset, do not read this one.

                You have been warned.

“Is she the child?” The husband looked down at his wife, tormented.  He nodded.

“I believe so,” The wife began to cry.

“No, no! It can’t be!” She clutched the  fragile infant to her chest, not wanting to let her go.  The husband reached down and placed a hand on her shoulder. “No!” the wife cried, sobbing hysterically. Tears fell from the husband’s eyes as well.

“The prophecy has told of this for generations. We cannot keep her,”

“But Chris, if we let her go she will die!” Chris nodded solemnly.

“I know, Marguerite, I know.” Two nurses came in the room, along with Fredrick Cycrus.

“As you may have figured out, Lillian is…not a normal child.”

“You can’t take her!” Marguerite screeched, her green eyes filled with panic. She had been with the child for nine months, singing her songs and imagining her life. They couldn’t take a child from her mother; it was cruel, to inhumane.  Fredrick looked upon her with great pity.

                “We must.”

“She’s going to die!” Fredrick’s expression became cold.

“She will die. You will die. We all will die.” He flicked his wand and bound the new mother to the bed. He nodded to the nurses, who quietly walked over and removed Lillian from Marguerite’s arms. The woman was screaming and sobbing, begging Chris to do something.

“Fredrick, please, if this does not have to happen, let us keep the child.” His face was unshaved, his features one of a broken man’s. Fredrick simply shook his head.

“This child no longer belongs to you.” The wife screamed. Her child, her own flesh and blood, was being taken away from her, like lamb to a slaughter. Chris kneeled down and began to cry, also, his hands clutching his wife’s. This was the last time they would ever see their beloved Lillian.

Fredrick walked out of the hall, the curious, bright eyed newborn pulling on his long beard. “Take her to a safe house. No one is to know of her birth. The other child has likely been born already.”

“This is so sad.” A nurse spoke quietly. “Two people, born on the same day, born to kill each other.”

“Silence! This girl is born to kill, and to be killed! It is written in the prophecy!” The nurses quieted, and stared at the dark haired infant.
