A Nervous Kiss Goodbye:A Lili Zwingli Love Story

A/N:Alright, before you start reading this! I'm sure there will be a lot of differences between the anime and this fanfiction, and if there are I already know about them and have made these differences on purpose to contribute to the plot line of this story. I sat in a field of flowers, a mere five-year-old, all alone in this big world. Countless people walked by, yelling and fighting, bleeding and dying. There is no end to the time of war, there is always fear. I covered my ears, I didn't want to hear it. It startled me, I was so lost,and so very terrified, I should have listened to big brother, I am far to young to be going places in my own. Two men walked past me, they were much older than me, already in their teens. One had long brown hair and green eyes, his messy hair was pulled back into a ponytail and there was a pink flower tucked behind his ear. He was a very handsome man, and if i remember correctly his name was Elijah, but everyone called him Hungary, I wonder, does that mean he eats a lot?

The second man was around the same height as Elijah, they seemed to be close friends. He stood straight and tall, his hair was cut short and as white as snow. His eyes turned to me, they were bright red, they were so beautiful, but scary at the same time. I gasped and tried to hide from the two men, I was much too shy to speak to either one of them. They both turned their heads and spotted me, a tiny red dot in the center of a sea of yellow and white. Mr.Elijah ran over to me and picked me up off of the ground.

"Look at this cutie!" He exclaimed, spinning me in circles. "What's your name sweetheart?" He asked. His eyes were big and sweet, he sort of reminded me of a woman, or a mother of some sort. The other man walked up beside him and looked me up and down.

"Whats so cute about her? She's just a runt." He stated bluntly. I pouted. This man didn't seem to like me much, what did I do wrong?

"M-My name is Lili." I whispered nervously, my cheeks turning pink. Mr.Elijah smiled and twirled me around once again, making me shake and tremble in his strong arms.

"Oh! You're Vash's little sister! You're such an adorable little thing!" he said, nuzzling his nose to mine. Elijah seemed like a very kind man, his smile made me very happy.  

"Y-Yes...Switzerland is my big brother..but I wanted to play in the flowers today, and big brother was very busy. So I thought if I played by myself i would be less of a bother...But it is very scary without big brother here." Gunshots fired in the distance, I covered my ears and tears sprang to my eyes. The white-haired man tapped his foot impatiently.

"Elijah! Leave the brat and hurry up! Awesome men are never late to their own invasions!" He yelled. I held onto Hungary. I must be annoying him, but i was so startled and confused by all the madness going on around me.

"I'm s-sorry for bothering you..." I murmured, looking at the other man. Eli shook his head and poked my nose.

"Oh sweetie don't mind Gil. He's just being grumpy because his last invasion didn't go quite as planned." He laughed.

Mr.Gil walked up to us and took me from Eli. He looked me straight in the eyes. I shook and started tearing up. Big brother always told me never to talk to strangers, I was very scared. I had already bothered this man enough, he was probably very angry at me.

"P-Please don't hurt me Mister G-Gil..." I begged. He laughed.

"Awesome men like me don't have to hurt kids! We already have all the power we need!" He laughed more and smirked at me. "Hey, kid, Lizzie or whatever, just call me if you need any help! Because I'm awesome! And can totally defend little non-awesome squirts like you!" He set me back down on the ground and pointed at himself triumphantly. "Pretty noble of me, huh Elijah?" He asked, waiting for the approval of his friend. I blushed and looked around nervously, trying to see if I could find my house from way up here so I could let these men continue with their own business. It was no where in sight.

"Oh! Why did I stray so far from home! I miss my big brother!"  I thought. 

"Th-Thank you very much." I muttered uneasily. I never talked to people without big brother around, it was very new and frightful to me. Mr.Gilbert handed me back to Mr.Elijah, who hugged me tightly.

"Of course I will always protect you as well Lili!" He reassured me. He sat me back down in the flowers and took my hand."Do you remember where your house is?" He asked me. I shook my head no and looked at the ground.

"No, I don't...I'm very sorry." Gilbert looked at his map and pointed westward, the complete opposite direction of where they were heading.

 "Come on Lili, lets get you home." Mr.Elijah said, reassuring me with that smile of his. I nodded walked timidly beside Eli. Gil ran behind us and yelled to wait up, but Mr.Eli just laughed and ignored him, and after a while it wasn't quite as scary to be around them, although I was still very nervous and careful not to cause them any more trouble than I already had. We finally got to Big Brother's house and Eli took the flower out of his hair, kissing it gently and then putting it into mine.

"Here you go Lili! I'll be back to see you real soon, but until then please keep this to remember me by." I became very flushed and anxious all over again.

"Th-Thank you Mr.Elijah." I said nervously. The door swung open and big brother stood in the open doorway.

"Lili!" He yelled, he hugged me tightly. "Do not ever leave me without telling me first! The world is a very scary place Liechtenstein!" He scolded me. I looked up at him with apologetic big green eyes.

"I'm so very sorry Big Brother, I know how busy you are, so I thought maybe I wouldn't bother you as much if I played alone today...And then Mr.Eli and Mr.Gil went out of their way to bring me home." I explained. I looked at Eli and Gil, feeling a bit regretful for letting them take me home. "I am very sorry for being such a pest today." I apologized again. Mr.Gilbert scowled at me and made a noise of disapproval.

"I can't believe you made this awesome guy miss prime invasion time! How else am I supposed to get to Austria's vital regions?" He shouted. Then out of nowhere he got hit in the face with a huge frying pan! Eli smiled and twirled the frying pan around his finger.

"Well, we'll be off! Be sure to visit us Lili!" He waved and turned away from me and big brother. I waved back shyly, halfway hiding my face in my brother's shoulder.

"I will try my hardest to visit Mr.Elijah, Thank you very much for bringing me home" Elijah grabbed Gil by the collar and dragged him away. I had so much fun, even if I troubled them. Next time I saw them I would help them too, I would be strong and able to take care of myself, like big brother, Mr.Eli and Mr.Gilbert instead of bothering them so much. I am so happy there are such kind people here to help me, becoming strong would be difficult, but I think I can to it if I work really really hard, maybe I'll even learn to speak up more and be more helpful too.

I really hope I can do it.
