Birthday Surprise!

*Calem's POV*

I woke up bright and early as soon as I heard my mom yell in my face "Happy Birthday my little boy!!" I groaned but managed to get up and laughed "Mom!! I'm not little! I'm not a kid, I'm 18 now an official man." My mother laughed "Man? Your always gonna be my little boy!" I rolled my eyes at her antics but smiled she was my mom after all. I got up and my mom smiled "Tell ya what! Because it's summer vacation and your 18 for today you don't have a curfew!" I looked at her in disbelief "Really you mean that?" She quickly nodded "Yes! And maybe.." She got this evil mom look on her face and said quietly "You'll tell Shauna how you feel.." I blushed and said "Mom your crazy! I don't like her! At least not that way!!"

She shrugged "Whatever you say, Speaking of girls Serena was here a little while ago and said for you to go over as soon as possible." I nodded "Alright alright." I checked my phone and sure enough I had 3 texts from Serena telling me to over asap. I had a few other texts from some old classmates wishing me happy birthday. I looked for a specific person but it was a simple text not wishing me a happy birthday.

Shauna: Hey, Good morning!

I felt hurt, I thought Shauna would've definitely remembered my birthday. 'Maybe she'll remember it later' I thought to myself. Mom already went downstairs and I brushed out my black slightly long hair and grabbed my favorite new outfit. A red jacket with a white pokeball design. Black skinny jeans and red converse. To complete the look I grabbed my favorite red cap and put shades on it. I gave a quick text to Shauna and she responded quickly

Calem: Morning. You know what today is? It's a special day you know.
Shauna: It's Tuesday, nothing special about today Calem.
Calem: Oh.. Right.. Anyways did you want to hang out today?
Shauna: Sorry I totally would but I'm not allowed to go out or have any guests over because of not cleaning my room..
Calem: Really?
Shauna: Yeah sucks right? So I will not leave my house today not at all
Calem: Oh.. I see, oh well maybe next time then?
Shauna: Most definitely! I gotta go, Text ya later Calem!
Calem: See ya Shauna..

I felt hurt and disappointed and replayed the words from Shauna 'Nothing special about today.' Suddenly I was hit with realization 'She actually forgot..' I put my phone in my back pocket upset but tried to shake it off. I went downstairs and said "Mom i'm going to Serena's house, Be back later!" I heard her respond from the hall closet "Oh yeah sure! Love you Calem!" I laughed and opened the door and said "Love ya too mom!" With that I stepped outside and closed the door behind me. I quickly waved hello to Rhyhorn and walked about 5 minutes and approached Serena's house and knocked on the door.

The door swung open and there was Serena smiling with her honey colored hair down and she was wearing a black top with red skinny jeans and black converse. I laughed a bit and said "We're dressed similar aren't we?" She looked down at her outfit and then looked at mine "Oh yeah we kinda do!" We both laughed and I said "So what's up?" Serena took my hand and dragged me inside the house and closed the door behind me and walked into the kitchen and said "Calem close your eyes." I sighed but nodded and closed them, then Serena said "Open them!" I opened my eyes and right in front of my face was a large cake with 18 candles and she shouted "Happy Birthday!!" I couldn't help but smile and feel touched at her nice gesture I said "You remembered?" She laughed "Of course I did dummy, what friend would forget another friend's birthday?" I stared at the floor "Shauna did."

Serena's mouth dropped open in shock and put the cake down and said "There is no possible way she forgot!" I nodded and handed her my phone and said "Look for yourself." She immediately grabbed my phone and started going through the texts and said "That's impossible, Shauna told me she was going to the mall today." I looked at her surprised "She said she couldn't go out." Serena pulled out her phone and said "look for yourself." I nodded and scrolled through the most recent texts.
