The foggy dusk loomed through and peeked into the crooked house, muted rays of sunshine slithering through the dusty basement as Chelsea and her big brother tiptoed into the basement to seek something to play with. The beams of sun creeped through the windows, casting shadows onto the cold, dark floor.

They reached their television... sleek and black; contrasted from the ancient room. They turned on the TV and tuned the channel to a mystery show, rolling themselves up onto the couch.

"I'm hungry," Chelsea whined as she stretched her legs and adjusted herself on the couch.

"Do you want a burger?" Trevor asked as he yawned and rested his chin on his knee.

     "Yes!" shouted Chelsea.

Trevor sighed, stood up, and fixed up a burger and set them in front of Chelsea, a delicious aroma filling the basement.

As she ate her first melt-in-your-mouth chunk of burger, she saw a reflection on the TV that came from the woods; dim like a small match at first, but soon burst into a blaze of light, until it collapsed and shrunk back to its pale form.

"What the-" Chelsea said in shivered tone. "What was that?"

     "Was what?" Trevor asked.

"N-nothing" she answered. The light had disappeared as fast as it came, and Chelsea had to even question herself on what she saw in the first place.

"You're seeing things again," Trevor smirked.

Chelsea wondered what she had seen and quickly finished her squishy burger, as she got up and silently walked out the door, setting her plate down onto the stone table.

"Hey! Where are you going?" Trevor questioned, as he trailed behind her.

"Nowhere. You shouldn't come with me. You might run into something scary."

"Ha ha! Yeah right. I don't care. I'm coming with you. Besides, I'm older than you for crying out loud!"

Chelsea rolled her eyes, as she held out the door for him. The sun blinded their eyes, dancing around like kaleidoscopes in front of their face.

"Let me say this. I think we're in for an adventure." Chelsea said, as she broke off into a sprint straight for the woods, where she had last saw the light.
