Zayn's POV
It almost felt surreal as I walked pass the large stone sign that was in front of the school. I never dreamt that all my hard work and dedication would finally pay off over the years, landing me with a scholarship at one of the most prestigious schools in America. It had always been my dream to leave London behind and start anew and now I was getting that opportunity.
Taking in a deep breath, I slowly began to make my way through the sea of fellow students that seemed to be just as lost as I was. It was move in day for all freshman on campus and the whole student body seemed to be buzzing with excitement. This was the positive attitude that the school had prided itself with for many years. My amber brown eyes flickered across the spacious courtyard for a moment, trying to figure out where exactly my dorm room was. Damn… there were so many people. Normally, I would have been hyperventilating and freaking out in this size of a crowd but I knew that spazzing out on my first day would not be the best thing if I wanted to actually make friends.
A wave of relief washed over me when I saw ‘Dogwood’ printed above the building right across from me. I had actually managed to find my dorm building! I felt a triumphant feeling I began to head towards the ominous building with a stride of confidence. When I entered the building there was already so many other guys rushing around the narrow hallway, searching for their own room. Without a single word I pushed my way through and stopped in front of 144.
What if my roommate didn’t like me? What if the guy was some sort of psycho? I couldn’t help but feel apprehensive as I slowly pushed open the door to my room, bracing myself for the worst.
“Hello there! You must be my roomie! I’m Harry, pleasure to meet you!” The curly-haired brunette in front of me piped up in a cheerful voice.
A content sigh passed my lips as I slowly extended my hand out towards the other boy, a smile fixed on my face. “Zayn, pleasure’s all mine.”
Immediately Harry latched his hand into mine and shook it with a great deal of strength, “Zayn! That’s a pretty badass name… it also rhymes with rain, vain, sane, aim…”
A chuckle quickly escaped me as I dropped my hand to my side, “Yeah, it’s definitely fitting for an English major don’t you think?”
“Oooh, you’re an English major? That’s way cool! You’ll have to show me something you’ve written sometime. I’m studying philsophy, even though my mom thinks it's an absolute waste of my time.”
I could definitely tell that while Harry was agreeable enough, he was going to be a bit of a handful at times. Although, it wasn’t like I couldn’t put up with it. Overall, there was just something inside of me that was telling me that we were going to become good friends in the end.
“Yeah, I’ll definitely show you something I’ve written. Do you have any preference on the beds?”
Harry shook his before he waved his hand over towards the beds, “It’s up to you man.”
I pursed my lips together for a moment as my eyes flickered back and forth between the two beds, deciding on the right side. I plopped down upon the squeaky spring mattress, my gaze focusing back towards my roommate.
“So, have you had the chance to explore campus yet?”
“No… I’m not a big fan of crowds, so I just figured that I’d wait till everyone was settled in their housing assignments.” He began to fidget slightly before grabbing his tie-dye sheets from a box on the ground.
