Caged

Chapter 17

Skylar teleports out of her cell and infront of Diane and I, and she runs the opposite direction from us to get everything ready. I knock on Joseph's door and he appears. Diane unlocks his door and he flies up to the ceiling where he won't be seen. I use my ability to check in on the guards. "Diane they're looking at a broken pot and two of them are coming this way while the rest investigate."

"How close are they?" She asks.

"Uh, probably 15 seconds from being able to see us." I answer.

"I can carry only one of you. Two would be too much." Joseph says.

"Joseph, carry Diane and drop her on the guards when the time is right." I order and they both nod, and next thing I know Joseph has taking Diane into the air. The guards turn the corner and spot me.

"What are you doing out of your room? How did you even get out?" One of them ask.

"It was left open and I had to pee. I was looking for my guard to take me but she seems to have disappeared." I make up a lie.

"She's busy at the moment. I'll take you to the bathroom and then straight back into your room after that." The other guard orders and I nod, looking up at Diane. Joseph let's her go and she lands on one of the guards, and the other one is startled and is about to shout for the others to come, but I panic and punch them, they get angrier and almost get a syllable out before Joseph lands on them. Both guards knocked out, I pull them into a nearby empty cell and lock them up. I look into the room where the other guards are investigating and they're all gone.

"We have to get out of here quickly, i don't see amy guards in that room." I announce and Diane grabs my hand and pulls me behind her as we run. We get to the front, and Skylar is waiting for us with Tyler and Taylor, and we all make our way to the stairs.

"Fuck it's keycard protected." Tyler tells us and we all groan.

"Is there a key slot?" Diane asks. "I have keys, but no keycard."

"Yeah, I see one. Pass them over." Tyler extends his hand and Diane hands him the keys. He picks one key and jams it into the keycard scanner, stabbing it and creating a hole. There's a few electric sparks and the door clicks open. Tyler turns to us and bows, returning the keys to Diane. Tyler steps into the stairwell first.

"Wait!" Joseph pauses us. "My brother."

"We'll come back for him." I assure. "But this might be our only chance to leave for a while."

"No, I can't leave him behind." Joseph argues. "Ill be quick." Joseph punches past everyone and walks into the stairwell, and runs up the stairs.

"Ill go with him." Taylor suggests and runs after him.

"We'll meet you where the therapy sessions are held." Diane informs Taylor and she nods, continuing to run after Joseph.

"Let's go." Tyler und down the stairs and everyone follows. I use my ability to look at the bottom level, but I don't see anybody.

"Theres many security cameras pointed at the door." I say. "But no guards. There usually isn't."

"What do we do about the cameras? Big W could still be awake for all we know."  Skylar asks.

"Ill check." I volunteer and look around Big W's office. "It doesn't look like she's in there, so she might have clocked out already... Oh no." I look at the tv in her office with all the security camera footage. "She's letting he guards out and then they're all probably going to be looking for us."

"We have to get the hell out of here." Skylar says and everyone kids. We start sprinting down the stairs, and Joseph breaks the keycard scanner to let us out of the stairwell and we run outside. I hear footsteps on the stairs, and I'm sure everyone does too, so we run faster.
