In every basketball players career the one moment they long for is to take the last shot in the game to save the game and win the championship. This is the story of a underrated player who made the underdog team the victors but this is an extraordinary tale of self belief, taking the chance and mostly courage.

As a kid my dream was to play for the Chicago Bulls and take flight into the air like Michael Jordan would but with any dream you have to earn and work your way from the bottom upwards and so every afternoon after school I would complete my homework then go straight to the backyard to practice my skills and improve. My favourite times of the week was when I had training and game day. I always started on bench because I wasn't the strongest player on the team but I tried my best when my time came to get subbed on the court. I played the wing and I wasn't the tallest but my strength came in defence. I didn't know what about I preferred defence than offence as there came a satisfaction when rejecting the ball from the player. All of my high school career,I started on bench until there came this one game when one of our main players had an injury and in the team huddle my coach said the magic words " your starting on". Even though I only had 5 minutes on in the first bit of the half, it felt amazing to start and so I decided to play harder to show my coach that I had it in myself to start. I would push myself to the limit in every game where I couldn't breathe well and I was so close to the point of collapsing but I believed it was worth it for the game and to prove to my coach that I'm strong enough to be a starting player. My game was improving week by week and I got more game time and so I further started to be on the starting 5. I believed that I was good enough to trial for the high school which took me years to build up the courage. It came to the moment when I stepped on the court and I knew I had to put everything into this trial because there were other players bigger, stronger and faster than myself and in order for me to make it I would have to leave nothing in the tank so that's what I done. The coach made us play 5 on 5 to see how our teamwork was and this was the last chance for me to shine. I tried to do as many assist as I could and score so many baskets. The only way to know if my efforts was enough is for my name to be announced on the team. Our coach started to read through the names of the successful players : Jill, Natalie, Melinda, Chelsea, Georgina, Jordon, Natasha and the last name was about to be announced. "The last player in the team is Violet Smart". I had made it on the high school team. The coach recognised my efforts and thought I was good enough to be on team. That afternoon I ran home and screamed at the top of my lungs that I made it on the team. My mum came and hugged me and
told me that she was so proud of me. A new chapter of my life has started.
