Prologue

No one knows when it started, all I know is I don't know when. I read about it. I read everything I can, but there are so many different stories that no one knows the truth, I wish I did.

But, here's the gist of it.

More than a thousand (some say it is two), there was a disturbance, which is a mild way of saying that everything fell out of place. The pollution, the extensive population and the radiation from the millions of human inventions caused this. Although the people (my brilliant ancestors) knew what was happening, how they were screwing up the ecological balance, they chose to ignore it, which landed us in this mess.

One fine day (no one knows which), the Mother Earth reached its breaking point, there were volcanic eruptions everywhere, the ground broke apart, water rose high above the mountains and the smart, fragile bodied people died.

Which would have been a good way to end the story. But there's more.

While some people died, the disturbances caused some other disturbances.

Some humans, exposed to direct radiation coupled with a bunch of other things actually became immune to them, which is great - if their only way of survival isn't delicious human blood. Blood suckers, leeches, pale ones, the heartless ones, or as my ancestors (for some reason) called them vampires. Back then, apparently, vampires were either hybrids of some animals who can turn into those animals and also suck blood, or some strange creatures with strangely civil mannerisms of humans who act like humans while hiding their identity and sparkling in sunlight.

Oh, and vampires were also just fantasises, created for entertainment. Well, they give us a lot more 'entertainment' than needed, and they're definitely NOT bloody fantasies which fall in love with teenagers instead of sucking them dry. They're NOT.

They're actually hybrid humans (not hybrid bats) who are fast and strong and immune to most physical or mental assaults, and their favourite food is human blood.

While most humans died in the disturbance, some survived, specifically the ones who had exiled themselves to the extremes of nature and climbed up the highest mountains in hopes of getting away from the destruction. From what I read, this mountain was called The Mount Everest, which is a part of Himalayas - the tallest mountain in existence. There is nothing to prove this as a fact, I suppose it makes sense for the tallest mountain to stay away from the range of most water-related destruction, although no one I don't know why this particular mountain didn't spit lava from its mouth.

The aftermath of the end of the world brought the existence of two races:

1)The Vampires which survived the end of the world, ready to hunt.

2)The humans which are the prey to the vampires, ready to be hunted.

I, unfortunately, belong to the second category.

Author's note - So, this is another story that popped in my head more than two years ago and then it popped in my head again a few days back and I decided to put it down before I lose it again and see where it goes. Please comment and let me know what you think.

Thanks :)
