My phone buzzed in my pocket and I already knew who it was, Sarah. I reached into my pocket, a hang nail snagged on the lining and tore the skin on my finger. It bled. Ignoring the stinging I grabbed my phone and the message read -

"This lesson really sucks, it would be better if you were here ;) xox"

I quickly responded with -

"What would we be doing if I was? ;) xox"

And a few seconds later I got a reply -

"Chemistry."

Faster than light I said -

"WE have chemistry ;););)xox"

Before I could be bombarded with exasperated messages - "JOSH PUT THAT PHONE AWAY!" - I flipped the switch to 'silent' and put it in my top pocket.
"Right class," drawled Mr Purdy  "We need a new seating plan due to the fact that NONE of you met your target grade in the assessment," We had heard this fact at least one million times, ok, more like 32 but that's still a lot.
"It will be in boy girl order and IF, though I would be surprised, if you start to behave like human beings -" a loud chorus of monkey noises came from the back corner of the classroom, most likely to have been made by Tom Irwin, "Yes, yes we get the point, anyway like I was saying, if you start to behave like human beings I will allow you to sit wherever you may like."
He walked around the classroom assigning places to faces and pointing at a desk he declared, "Josh." and then after a tiny pause "Charlotte.". I walked to my place and slumped into the wonky wooden chair with a thump, it wobbled due to the fact two of the legs were lacking ends. I glanced up to see a girl - Who I'm guessing is Charlotte - sit daintily in the seat next to me. She looked like she was smart; boring!
I would have preferred to sit next to Ellie Hawcutt, it was rumoured she was the CEO of a successful branch of strip clubs and had a Weed farm in her garden shed; I mean, it's not as if any of these things were true, she's 14, of course they weren't, but she still seemed like an interesting person.
Anyway it's not as if it really mattered, I had Sarah to talk to (if she ever forgave me for my dreadful flirting), and I got to copy Charlottes work, so I've got the best of both worlds.
