As we were entering one-by-one, Bailey quietly whispered "our tutor looks like Nanny McPhee but a lot more plump. Is she nice to us students?".
I said "no she isn't really. She has a bad habit which a lot of the teachers have. They like to pick on new students and test the way they deal with criticism". Bailey nervously gulped and said "Oh crud, they sound like monsters here.. I probably wont last long".
I reassured him by saying, "You needn't worry. I will look after you and will guide you through the ropes for a short while until you feel confident enough to be more independent. I will always be here for you, ok". Bailey then looked at me with his deep, blue eyes and repeated"ok".
As of now, there is two more students in front of us. I'm excited to take on this brand new year but am nervous to tell the class what happened in the summer holidays. Mrs Woodard forces us at the beginning of every year to stand up from our seats and share our summer holiday story.
Finally, it was time for us to enter the classroom with Mrs Woodward's approval. Bailey was looking ever so nervous at this moment. Bless his polite, sweet little cottons.. he said "Hi, I'm a new student here and am feeling extremely nervous. Can you seat me next to......". He forgot my name for a second.
The three of us stood staring at a very impatient, eager Mrs Woodward. "Who do you want me to seat you next to?". Before Bailey had the chance to say, Mrs Woodward rudely interrupted and said "you will be seated with who I think you will be best seated with. You students dont have authorities to make such decisions".
Before I had the chance to explain to Mrs Woodward that Bailey wanted to sit with me for reassurance, she cut me short and said, "you both either come in now and stop wasting time with this malarkey; otherwise I will give you 10 minutes detention for break and 5 minutes detention for lunch. Believe me, you don't want to start the year on a low note. Come on in"
Bailey looked like he was going to cry, bless him so I patted his back and said, "I won't let anything awful happen to you. We're friends at the end of the day"..... Bailey gave me a bear hug and whispered into my ear with his warm breath, "if you won't let anything happen to me then I won't let anything happen to you. I love you". He kissed me on the cheek..... We then entered the classroom and had to wait our fate to see who we'd be seated next to.......
I felt like bricking it at this point.........
