Trying my best not to trip over branches and fall into swamps, I make my way through a dense forest in hopes of getting as far away from that camp as possible. We've just been overrun by zombies, a great thing to wake up to in the morning. I was living there with my captors, but also guardian angels. These nice men and few women rescued me from a Z surrounded hummer when I was 12. As soon as my mom and dad saw the Z's that were headed for the car, which was out of gas by the way, they jumped ship and left me on my own. Last words I ever heard them say were, "Liz, you've got this, we love you". Next thing I know, fountains of red liquid are spewing all over the windows. A lovely sight to scar a youngling.
Next thing I know, I hear gun shots and the sound of half-dead skulls being impaled by blunt objects of sorts. Cha-Kunk. Splotch. Lovely, I think to myself. The hummer door opens to reveal a few men and a couple women decked it in what seemed to be biker-gone-even-more-badass look. I was carried out of the vehicle crying and in compete shock.
Anyway, back to the present.
My lungs are on fire and my legs are heavy. I don't know how much long I can fucking do this, I think to myself. I squat by a tree and catch my breath, trying to absorb what just went on. My mind is clouded with blood and it fucking pounding. Guess I'm gonna have to save those thoughts for later. I sit in silence for a couple minutes, drinking the last of my water and chewing on some way expired gum. Hey, desperate times desperate measures. I pull out my map to try and find my way to a main road. Hopefully I'll see someone I know there. It's only a couple mile walk, but I could probably run it in half the time. I look into my bag to see a mere 2 granola bars and a couple sticks of gum. Shit. I've gotta conserve whatever energy have left. Walking it is, I think to myself.
