Valentines day special! ♡
Dan's hand fiddled with the gift in his hand, unsure of where to put it. It felt odd. Dan was always comfortable with Phil, although it was awkward at first, now he was almost as attached to Phil as he was with his phone.
And the instant he realized this, it made him unsure. Did he feel this way because he lived with Phil? Or was it because Phil helped him through tough times?
Either way, the gift in his hands said it all.
It wasn't anything special. In fact, he bought it on a whim. Something just called out to him and he bought it, thinking it was perfect for Phil. As he was paying, he imagined Phil's face when he opened it, bright and happy like a golden sunflower feeling the warm sun of summer.
He grumbled to himself. "This was stupid." There was no way to avoid the awkward after giving it to Phil. He'd have to explain why, and he wasn't sure that would go well. After fumbling a bit, he stood up, and quickly walked out the door, ready to throw it out in the kitchen.
Unfortunately, he ran into Phil in the hallway. He probably seemed suspicious, but Phil was just confused. "What's that in your hand?"
Dan quickly shoved he box into his other hand behind him. He held up his empty hand, showing it to Phil. "Oh, it's nothing."
Phil gave him a look. "Your other hand."
Dan attempted to do the same thing, but instead dropped in on the floor. They both dove for it, but Phil got it first, reading the heart-shaped tag on the box.
"To me?"
Dan blushed and nodded as Phil popped off the top, revealing the plush lion inside that was holding a heart-shaped chocolate. Phil's eyes widened in amazement, and the shade of blue captivated Dan. Dan was pulled into a tight hug. "Thank you."
Dan, taken aback, just came right out and said it.
"I love you."
He mentally facepalmed himself right after, and was about to in real life, but Phil's words caught him by surprise.
"I know you do. Everyone knows we love each other."
Dan's eyebrows furrowed a bit, unclear as to what Phil meant.
"But, not like, in a platonic way. I l-love you in a romantic fashion."
Phil just nodded. "Right. Everyone knows that, Dan. Get with the times."
Dan laughed a bit and pointed his finger, pointing at himself and then Phil. "But you said we love each other."
Phil tilted his head. "Truth is..." He walked away and came back with a rose and a box of chocolates in his hand. "This is for you. It's kind cheesy, but-"
Dan couldn't handle it anymore. He kissed Phil, going right for his lips. Phil seemed shocked at first, but realized what was going on, and leaned in a little.
Both of their faces were red, as Dan spoke. "I don't care if it's cheesy, you dork. I love it. I love you."
