Many years ago, a world renowned Pokemon professor named Samuel Oak found a crying infant in the tall grass near Pallet Town during a research trip. He was shocked when he saw that the baby boy resembled his lost daughter, Sky. Taking pity on the baby, he took him in and named him Blue, because the baby boy had the same colored eyes as his daughter. He then raised him as his own.
Also eventually taken in by Oak, was Red. His father had left for a journey shortly after he was born, and never returned, leaving him and his mother alone.
And so, the professor raised the two with only the best. They grew up so closely that they considered themselves brothers. Both became prodigies at Pokemon battling. Oak couldn't have been more proud.
Sometimes, when the two would practice in the tall grass, they would see a girl their age playing with Pokemon. She had bright eyes and golden hair. When the two talked to her, they found out that her name was Yellow. Her father, she said, had died years ago. She only had an Uncle these days, but he was never home. That was the day their group of two grew to three. Blue and Red even introduced the girl to the Professor, who instantly began treating her as one of his own children as well.
Things began to change as they got older though. Both Red and Blue were working towards their dreams of becoming Pokemon Masters, while Yellow honed her skills as a Healer. You'd think that this would make them closer, but it didn't. Slowly, Yellow began spending more time with Blue, and Red was left alone. As it was, Blue and Yellow were developing feelings for each other, while Red had unrequited feelings for Yellow. However, he hid these feelings so that he could remain friends with both of them.
The professor began asking the boys to accomplish strange tasks for him, but he taught them everything, so they obeyed. After Blue questioned his requests one day, Professor Oak sent both Red and Blue on a mission to Cerulean City. Their job was to deliver a package there. Together, they departed. They met three older girls wearing summer dresses by the city limits. In fact, they were blocking their way. "Excuse me," Blue told them. The girls shook their heads, and one pointed to the box they were carrying between them.
"What's in the box?" She asked.
"Don't know," Red shrugged and tried to walk around them, but they just stepped in front of him.
"We can't let you pass," they said. "Please, return from whence you've come." Blue shook his head.
"We have to deliver this." Both girls withdrew two pokéballs each.
"Then we have no choice but to stop you ourselves." White light erupted from their capsules, and Red and Blue hardly had enough time to bring out their own Pokemon.
After only fifteen minutes later, all six of the girls' Pokemon had fainted, but Red and Blue still had all of theirs at nearly full health. "We have you defeated. Now let us pass," Red stated agitatedly. The girls lifted up their heads, blue eyes somber."You still wish to enter?" The boys each nodded, and then the girls took out switchblades.
"We'd been hoping it wouldn't come to this." And they charged.
Had old Professor Oak not been a retired boxer himself and taught Blue and Red how to defend themselves, they would've been dead the moment the girls drew blades. However, they knew how to protect themselves, and managed to keep those knives from slitting their throats. Blue finally knocked the final girl's switchblade away.
"Please stop; we only want to pass."
"Well we can't let that happen!" She snarled, pulling out another knife and raised her hand, ready to plunge it into his neck. Only an attack from his Charizard prevented that. The fire type used a body slam to throw her to the concrete. A few feet away, Red was facing the same dilemma. Venusaur also had to rescue his Trainer from two girls, with a Hyper Beam.
