"Hey, Hux." Ben quietly says to the barista. He waves at him and continues to make drinks for the next costumer. Their small greetings became a common thing. Just a small hello and Ben was off to his seat.Although it was a big step from just admiring him from afar, Ben wanted more. He wanted to have actual conversations, maybe even know the guy. Maybe even date the guy. Would Hux ever date Ben? Hux is perfect. The way his hair is slicked back at times, his bright smile, and the way he waves awkwardly at him. Ben. Ben was far from perfect. His nose, a feature he hated for most of his life, his awkward waves in his hair, and don't even get him started on his personality. Overall, his chances with Hux are slim.
Should it stop him from being friends at least? No, in fact you can safely say that the two know each other. The next step was being friends. With that thought Ben gets up and makes his way to Hux.
"Hey," he starts out. Hux looks up to him and blushes lightly.
"H-hey, Ben. How are you?"
"Great. Look, maybe you want to hang out sometime?" He says very fast almost like it was one word. Hux shifts his weight to the counter.
"Sure. How about today? I have my lunch break soon." Ben had that feeling again. The one where his heart races and everything tingles. Today. Today he is going to hang out with Hux.
"Yeah! That's great. That's fantastic! W-what time?" Hux giggles at Ben's shouting and tucks some hair behind his ear.
"How about in like twenty minutes. You can meet me here and we can go out." Go out. Yeah, Ben was going out with Hux. Not like that, of course. Just hanging out as friends. Friends. They are now at that level. It brings butterflies to Ben's stomach.
"Sure! I'll see you twenty minutes, Hux." Ben slowly makes his way to the door as he keeps smiling to him.
"See you then, Ben." Ben pushes his way outside and rushes to his apartment. He runs past everyone and leaps over a short fire hydrant. He's going out with Hux! The Hux he's been admiring! They're friends! Ben smiles even larger until his cheeks hurt. He finally reaches to his place. He unlocks the door and pushes himself up against the door.
"What the fuck do I where!" He shouts into his empty home. Even though it is just a small hangout Ben wanted to look great. Not too great but great. How about a shirt without a weird stain on it? That'll do. He quickly switches out his shirt with another black shirt.
"Okay, okay, okay. Ben, you are not going to mess this up. You're going to talk like a normal person- and oh dear god, I'm talking to myself again! I fucking hate this! This sucks." He rambles to himself. After the pep-talk (I guess you could call it that) he heads back to the shop.
As he enters he spots Hux in an instant. Ben slowly feels more safe. More relaxed. As Hux hangs his apron he gives a nod to Ben acknowledging him.
"Hey, you're a little early." Hux places his hand on his shoulder and smirks to him. Ben feels himself melting into the small touch. "So, where are we going?"
"Oh, you'll love it."
