Okay so I would just like to start this update by saying: wow. I know there are fics out there that are way more popular than this one but I honestly wasn't expecting this to get this many reads. Also in the past couple days I seem to have been spammed with a TON of votes and reads, so idk how that happened but thank you all so much. This story honestly hasn't turned out as well as I invisioned it. I was originally planning on it being like a novel but then realized I completely and utterly lacked the patience and dedication of doing so. I already knew how the entire story was going to play out, and I guess since I was just so excited about writing this fic, I just couldn't help myself and binge updated the entire thing in little, insignificant chapters within a few days. I then had a bit of writers block after writing "The Truth" because I knew what I WANTED to happen, I just couldn't think of how to word it nicely and make it seamless and professional. This fic is DEFINITELY not my best work, so I apologize for the sloppiness of it. I'm planning on writing another fic KINDA similar to this one that was inspired by The Maze Runner, so I guess stick around for that. I will TRY to be patient and make it more of a novel with just and occasional, more quality update. But we'll see. Thank you so much for everyone who has read this fic and voted and commented, etc. it means a lot and I love you all. Whoops I'm rambling. Now, here is the ending you deserve:
I stood there, paralyzed with shock. Was this really happenening? Was Link, KISSING me? And was I kissing him back? Yes, I was. Mythical beasts stood around in awe, gawking at the two of us. It was then I remembered that we were in a very public place, surrounding by fans. I hastily took my hand out of Link's (beautiful) hair and he got the message and pulled away as well. We looked around at everyone, blushing awkwardly. There was a deafening silence and I wrung my sweaty hands together nervously, waiting for someone to do something. Then, the most unexpected thing happened. They started CHEERING. Everyone, even the people who weren't quite sure who we were and the other you tubers. They were all CHEERING for us. I even saw some people wiping their eyes. Then a teenage girl in the back started chanting RHINK RHINK RHINK RHINK, but died out quickly as no one was joining her (that was me, the author, BTW, I'm such a lonely bean). Everyone laughed whole-heartedly and then I was aware of Link palming the back of my neck and pulling me down again, to an uproar of more cheering. This was where I belonged. I was home.
Link and I arrived at our hotel room, both happier then we ever remembered being. I had my arm around his shoulder, holding him close. "Sorry, I didn't realize you would be here, there's only one bed," Link said awkwardly. I grinned.
"It's fine. From what I understand, we've shared beds before."
Link laughed. "Yeah, I guess that's true."
There was a silence. "So, um. Where you, GAY before all of this? Have you like, dated guys before?" I asked awkwardly.
Link thought. "Well, I think I've always been bisexual, but I only dated girls in highschool because they were the only people that asked me out. I was too shy to ask anyone myself."
"If you had had the courage to, who would you have asked out?"
"Well, probably you actually," he said shyly. "I just always thought you liked me as a friend, and I didn't want to ruin our friendship."
I nodded. "Actually, I was starting to get pretty worried. I mean, I'm almost fourty and the only person I ever remembered LOVING was my best friend who I didn't think felt the same way. I thought I was going to die alone without ever getting married!" Link said laughing. I laughed too.
There was another awkward silence as both of us were undoubtedly thinking about how Link had just implied that we would get married.
"Well," I said. "Should we head out and get some dinner?"
"Yeah, let's go." Link got up and we both headed toward the door. As we were walking down the hall I reached down and laced our fingers together, pulling him a little closer to me. He smiled, giving my hand a small squeeze. Wow, I loved him.
After dinner at Dairy Queen (which I payed for) we headed back to our hotel room and settled down in the bed. After both of us silently checking or Twitter feeds for like half an hour on our phones, we turned them off and settled under the covers; me laying on my back and Link on his stomach.
"Link?" I whispered into the darkness.
"What?"
I wanted to say I love you, but couldn't find the courage to do so. "Goodnight." I whispered instead.
"Goodnight."
There was a pause.
"I love you."
I blushed. "I love you too, Link." I felt him squirm closer to me so that our shoulders were rubbing together. Then he draped one of his arms over my chest and nestled his face into the notch in my neck, tangling our legs together. I sighed. I could get used to this, I thought.
