I dreaded school today. Any chances I had of not being noticed would go out the window at 7:45 am this morning.
Reluctantly getting dressed and eating breakfast, I headed to my car. My first surprise that morning was the moving truck that was slowly strolling down the street and stopping at the house in front of mine.
Ha! I hadn't even realized that family moved. Silently laughing to myself I thought at least I've gotten some humor today.
"Ughh you got this Margaret, you can do this." With that being the only thought in my head, I drove off to school.
-Stares
All I was receiving was stares as I walked to the main entrance. Stares from the popular girls who scoffed when you look them in the eyes.
Stares from the math geeks who couldn't even look anyone in the eye.
But to me the most important stare I got was from Eli's group of friends. It was the kind of stare that would make you uncomfortable. The one with the smirk and the little glint in the eye type stare.
When my eyes locked with Eli's clear blue ones , it brought back a memory of one of my favorite times together.
"Eli stop! Oh my gosh" I wheeze out in laughter. "Stop tickling me, I'll give you anythin- I'll give you anything!"
"Say you love me and I'm the best boyfriend in the world!" I laughed at his request and laughed harder when he continued his attack on me.
" Ne-never!" I cried out dramatically. His hands immediately stopped and I took that as an opportunity to catch my breath.
Eli pouted at me from above. "Why don't you love me?" He asked. His bright blue eyes blazing with sorrow.
I pouted back, "Aw, I do love you. I just didn't want you to stop tickling me." His face broke out into a smile making mine do the same.
That was when I realized he had me feeling some type of way.
I tore my eyes away from his just as someone yelled, "Hey nerd, you wanna netflix and chill now that you're single!?"
The sound of laughter filled my ears and for the first time in a long time I knew for a fact that they were laughing at me.
-------------------------------------------The morning was worse than I thought it would be.
Normally, I enter the classroom and go straight to my seat in the back of the classroom. Today all the popular kids were blocking my path.
"Margaret, are you okay?" Riley said with a sneer.
Her and I, along with everyone else, know she doesn't mean that and wants to get under my skin.
I gave her a big smile and replied with, "Couldn't be better! Are you okay though? I heard nose jobs hurt." The class ooed and she scoffed at the pouty face I gave her and walked away.
It felt good to be on top for once but it's not something I would want to do everyday, unlike Riley.
Our teacher, Ms. Reed, came in and started another boring lesson on who knows what.
I'll admit I do get good grades and my highest grade is in her class but she is the most boring teacher anyone could have. It's the same routine, come in, check for homework, teach the lesson, and give out that night's homework when there is 30 minutes of class left.
Boring, I know.
Unfortunately, my mental rant was cut off by the opening of the classroom door and my second surprise of the day arrived when a guy none of us have ever seen before walked in.
___________________________Everyone knows that when the door to a clasroom opens no one is going to look away until they have answers and that's exactly what was happening right now.
A guy about 6'3 with spiky brown hair and bright brown eyes came through the door.
"Um hi, im Jack" he introduced to the class with a shy wave.
"Ahh! Jack nice to meet you. I had no idea you were coming. Anyway, you can take a seat in the back next to Margaret. Margaret, raise your hand." Ms. Reed said.
I was shocked that she sat him next to me and I didn't even realize the only empty seat was next to me.
Once again, all eyes were on me as I slowly but confidently raised my hand for Jack to see.
His eyes searched the room and once he found mine he smiled and started to walk over to me.
"You don't want to sit back there man," one guy yelled from across the room.
"The nerd doesn't talk and she definitely won't give you a blowjob when you ask for one"
I rolled my eyes as everyone laughed, again.
I really hope Jack didn't hear that but of course he did"I don't care if she doesn't want to give me a blowjob. I'm not that type of person and im sure she isnt either. She actually looks really nice."
After that last part he looked in my direction and smiled once more.
Once he sat down Ms. Reed resumed her teaching. I'm not one to make conversation but I couldn't not talk to him, especially since he stood up for me.
"Hey, thanks for that." I whispered to him.
He looked over at me and replied with, "No problem. What was that all about when he said I wouldn't want to sit back here though?"
The dreaded question.
"Um, so my boyfriend broke up with me yesterday. He made a bet with his friends that he could date me for a year and when year was gone so was I " I told him, avoiding eye contact.
"Damn, he's a dick. Want me to beat him up for you?" He joked.
"I know. He was like my best friend. I wouldn't want you to beat up my ex- best friend. "
He was quiet, too quiet. When I looked up at him from my work he was already staring at me.
He kept eye contact and said, "I could be your best friend," He leaned in and whispered, "Baby, I could fuck you right."
The blush on my face was immediate and we both burst out laughing.
"Aww, you're blushing." He unfortunately pointed out. But I continued to laugh trying to hide the fact that that was what I really wanted.
