The serpent slithers around us,
Telling us blissful lies,
Bringing us fruits and jewels,
Saying it loves us,
That we're number one.
We eat it all up
Until not a crumb of it remains.
Around our necks it goes,
Its grip tightening
For every breath we take.
It tells us terrible truths,
Destroying all that we own,
Saying it hates us,
That we're worthless.
We can only cry
Until not another tear comes out.
The serpent slithers around us,
Telling us blissful lies,
Bringing us fruits and jewels.
We pray,
We so desperately pray
That is stays that way.
We know though,
That we're forever chocking on its hold.

PoetryA series of poems, songs and whatever else is screaming in my mind. Pathos isn't something that comes to me, but when it does, it's written down and shared for those to see.
