Arabella's POV
I knew it. I knew using the ouija board was a mistake. As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be bad. I glared at the ouija board, which parts were now scattered across the room due to Kalum chucking it there. I've heard enough things about ouija boards enough to know you weren't supposed to touch them, let alone play them.
"Arabella? You okay?" Darcy said quietly.
I looked at her for a short amount of time before my bottom lip started wobbling. I shook my head no. Darcy gave me a sympathetic look and offered her arms out. I accepted the hug and sighed on her shoulder. Over her shoulder, Kalum stood apart from us, visibly tensing. I watched him stare at the ouija board, eyes opening wide. Then he started pacing, raking his fingers through his hair continuously. I pulled away from Darcy softly and walked up to him, tapping his shoulder gently. He spun around, stumbling a bit, his face pale.
"Kalum? What's wrong?" My eyebrows knitted together in concern. I watched as relief wash over his face. As if he thought I was a ghost.
"N–Nothing." He went back to pulling out his hair. Then he seemed to remember something. He spun around once more. "No, wait, we didn't say goodbye."
"To who?" We haven't been here very long and already some of us are going bonkers.
"Bella! The ouija board! We didn't say goodbye to Luke." He said, exasperated.
I felt the colour drain from my face. Oh.
OH.
I turned back around to the rest of our group. Zephyr was comforting Darcy by rubbing her shoulders and Joey was sitting down on the couch, his head resting on his hands.
"Guys." They didn't seem to hear me. "GUYS!"
Zephyr lazily looked at me, Darcy looked at me through slightly tear stained eyes and Joey snapped his neck up to meet my eyes.
"We didn't say goodbye." I said quietly.
Darcy sniffled while Zephyr kissed the top of her head and cuddled her soothingly. Joey, on the other hand, looked absolutely furious. He stood up, staring me square in the face.
"SAY GOODBYE THEN." Joey roared at me. I flinched away, but Kalum defended me and stood in front of me.
"Hey don't take it out on us, man. It wasn't our fault."
"Wasn't your fault?" He laughed without any humour. "Wasn't your fault? Who wanted to do it in the first place?" He snapped.
Kalum stayed quiet, I could practically hear him biting the insides of his cheeks so he wouldn't snap a snarky response.
"We can't say goodbye anyway." Zephyr spoke, leading Darcy to sit on the couch.
"Why not?" Joey yelled.
"Oi, don't you shout at me, Joey." She screamed back. "It's broken. Snapped in half from when Kalum threw it." She yanked her head in the direction of the board and returned her attention to Darcy.
Joey narrowed his eyes at Kalum. "Again, wasn't your fault?"
"Joey, calm down–" Kalum couldn't finish his sentence though because Joey had socked him in the stomach. "OOF." He stumbled back, hitting the wall.
Joey shook out his fist and walked out the front door, slamming it behind him.
Instantaneously, Darcy rushed to Kalum's aid.
Already we were shouting, fighting and punching each other. If we can't even survive one day at this house, how are we going to live here? Especially since I get this unsettling feeling that we're not alone.
