"Wake up, wake up, wake up!" Sadie cheered, diving onto my bed. I pulled a pillow over my head and let out a loud groan. It was sunday, the one day of the week I let myself sleep in instead of running, but apparently sleeping in was too much to ask for.

"What do you want" I said, although it came out muffled through my pillow.

"Its raining!" She cried gleefully. I pushed the pillow off my face and propped myself up on my elbows.

"So? That's an even better reason to let me sleep in." I replied, shooting her a death glare. My taunting eyes didn't seem to affect her as she grinned giddily.

"Nope. Cause we're going into town!!" She squealed, bouncing on the bed to try and get me to get up. I let out another groan and rolled over, pulling my covers up over my head. "Oh come on, Mads. It's gonna be the perfect girls day out. Except my parents are making Declan take us since they still don't trust me with the car, but we can just pretend he isn't there". My eyes shot open at the sound of his name, but I couldn't raise any suspicions, so I pretended to be annoyed for a bit longer.

"Fineee".

"Shotgun!" I sang, descending the steps off the porch and wading through the grass to the car.

"Dammit." Sadie hissed, tossing her purse into the backseat before sliding in next to it. I sat down in the passenger seat not long before Declan emerged from the house. He was wearing khaki shorts and a university of ottawa hoodie, his hair tousled. How did he look so hot without trying? Here I was in my high waisted denim shorts, a plain grey crop top and an oversized flannel, my hair thrown up messily in a bun. I didn't even bother with makeup, and I was pretty sure I looked like something out of The Walking Dead.

"Morning ladies." He said while inserting the keys in the ignition. Sadie nodded, her eyes glued to her phone, and I smiled.

"Morning. Sorry you got stuck chauffeuring." I replied.

"It's no biggie, it'll be nice to get out of that little cottage for the first time in over a week." I gave him a nod of agreement, not really sure what to say. I was having trouble making conversation this early in the morning. Instead, I stared out the window, taking in the scenery as we whizzed past. As we pulled into town, the tall, overgrown forest was replaced with quaint little shops, each one displaying it's own charm.

"Oh thank god theres a salon." Sadie said as we passed a building reading Nancy's Nails in frilly pink writing. Declan parked the car in the adjacent parking lot. "I'm in desperate need of a mani-pedi. Let's make that our first stop!"

"Sade, you know I hate nail polish..." I said sheepishly, not wanting to ruin her excitement. It was true, nail polish bothered me. It took forever to dry and you couldn't really do anything with your hands for a while after. "But that doesn't mean you can't get one!" Her face saddened immediately.

"This is supposed to be our girls day on the town. I can't go without you!" She whined, clearly torn between a fresh manicure and her best friend.

"Yes you can. It'll take you like what, an hour? We have all day to spend together. Go." I replied, handing her her purse and practically shoving her out the door. She looked hesitant, but she complied, slinging her purse on her arm and heading into the shop.

"Coffee?" Declan suggested.

"It's like you read my mind."

We crossed the street to an adorable little cafe. As I pushed open the door, a bell chimed and a little old lady looked up from behind the counter. Her name tag read Martha. She gave us a warm smile.
