The park was quiet when all of the children were gone.
It was way past midnight, and she knew that she should have been in her house, in her bed, sleeping. If she was a normal person, that was where she would be. Unfortunately she wasn't normal. She never had been.
Ever since she was a baby, Helen had been an eye witness to horrible tragedies. Her mother's death, her cousin's drowning, her grandfather dying of cancer...she herself had experienced many horrors inflicted on her personally. Secrets... Dark secrets that she was forces to stay quiet about because she feared that if she ever told anyone about them... that her life would be brutally and painfully extinguished.
Sometimes, she just needed a day, or in this case, night away from her life. Her fears. Hyde Park was her favorite place to do that. She could just sit here in peace and quiet as she thought through her life's problems and how to solve them. She could take a deep breath of the cool misty air and relax.

He wandered through the grave yard with a heavy frown on his face. His eyes were empty and dark as he stared blindly at the mist that arched its way over tombstones. He walked until he reached one particular grave marker. He crouched down and ran a finger over the name that was engraved on the cold stone:
Evelyn Murphy
"Evelyn Murphy," he spoke lowly, his voice filled with anguish, "I'm so so sorry."
He pulled his hand away from the stone and turned his head away from the grave.
Why did he have to be such a monster?
