I Think You Were In My Profile Picture Once - Modern Baseball

"I heard most things break by the ends of these types of nights so I'll force upon every word I've brushed up on since knowing we won't speak like this again."

-----

1 month later.

It was the 23rd of December when it happened. Patrick had tried to speak to Mercy on several occasions in the past month but failed, either being ignored completely or her being called away by one of the others. He'd started to get slightly angry with her ignorance, constantly walking away from him if he approached her. He even notice that she would sometimes stare at him, but when he looked back at her she would look down.

He'd decided that he had some sort of feelings for her, but he couldn't figure out exactly what they were. He felt disgusted with himself for thinking about her in that way but he couldn't help it. It didn't matter though, he was convinced that she'd fallen for Pete due to the way he saw her act around him. He knew for a fact that she was regularly having sex with Joe and Andy, even more so with Pete.

It was 3 in the morning and he'd gone to get a drink before going back to bed when he heard hushed voices in the living room. He stood in the far corner of the kitchen. Joe and Andy had already left to see their family for the holidays, so the only other two people in the apartment were Pete and Mercy. He listened in, staying out of view.

"I've only got tonight with you and then I won't be here until the 3rd of January. You'll have to give me my new year's kiss now." He said softly to her, Patrick cringing to himself.

Around the corner Mercy was pressed to the glass windows at the far side of the room. Pete was kissing her when she spotted Patrick peaking around the corner at them. He was watching the way Pete was grabbing her, so she knew that he didn't know she'd seen.

When they parted their lips, Pete moved his mouth to her ear. "Why don't you get down on your knees and give me my Christmas present?" He commanded. Mercy suddenly froze. She couldn't give him a blowjob while Patrick was watching her, but she couldn't tell Pete that.

Mercy's body language was tense and Patrick picked up on it. As she cautiously got down on her knees, Patrick stopped looking. He tried to ignore the noises Pete was making.

He glanced around the corner briefly and saw Pete's hand tangled in her hair. She squirmed away from him but her head hit the window and he stepped even closer, giving her no escape. Her eyes looked up to plead with him but he was too distracted by Mercy's mouth sucking on his member.

Patrick watched her mouth for a moment before realising what he was doing and standing as far away as he possibly could.  There was no way he could go to his room as it would be in their line of sight, so he went to Andy's instead.

He closed the door silently and rested his head against it. How could I have been so wrong about her? It was now obvious to him that Mercy didn't actually like Pete, she was only pretending in order to protect herself and Patrick had posed a threat to her stupid act. He had been angry at her even though she'd probably done nothing wrong and he suddenly felt stupid.

He'd wanted to help her but he let himself be fooled by a wall she'd put up. He knew Pete left in the morning, so he would have to talk to her then. He decided to sleep in Andy's room, not wanting to risk being seen by Mercy or Pete.

He was about to climb on the bed when he saw a notebook poking out from behind the cabinet of drawers. He reached and picked it up, examining the contents.
