Chapter 3

Dustin Lynch is the name she read as she picked up the album and read the track listing, I wasn't imagining things when I thought I had seen him somewhere before, she thought to herself, one of the songs was "wild in your smile." I love that song! How could I have not realized that was him, she sent a text with the picture to her friends who quickly responded with "OMG" and "no way." As she went to buy the CD her mind was racing, wonder if he thought I knew who he was, she hoped he knew she was truly interesting in him. With this information a lot of things made sense like why he wasn't at the bar the weekend after when she stopped in, he must be touring.

She did some research as soon as she got back home and learned he was in fact on the road currently with Keith Urban. Wow what an awesome tour to be on she thought as she checked the tour dates, and low and behold there was one close by in the fall of that year. Sure it was still about 2 months away, but she quickly purchased a ticket to the show. Her seat wasn't up close, but it wasn't nose bleed section either, if he saw her in the crowd would her recognize her? Guess she'd have to wait to find out, but until then she would have to keep up with him on social media.

While she patiently waited for concert day Abby enjoyed what was left of summertime by doing what she did best, laying out on the beach, working on her tan and reading. During her beaching times other guys tried to get her attention, but none of them could hold a candle to Dustin in her eyes at that time. Was she crazy to think she could have a relationship with someone well known like him, of course for that to happen she'd have to meet him again.

While out on the road with Keith Urban, Dustin secretly couldn't wait to go back to Virginia. He was hoping he would run into that girl again and this time he was gonna get the name and number he promised himself. During some of his other shows the ladies did try to get his attention, meet and greets especially, yet none could compare. He didn't want her to be the one that got away, would she be at the concert he wondered, he would be searching the crowd for her. He also had a little something up his sleeve in case she was there.

The day had finally arrived and Abby was trying to figure out what to wear. She picked out the right outfit and drove to the venue she tried to win meet and greets through the radio station, but no such luck. She took her seat and waited for the show to start, the good news was Dustin was scheduled to go on first. Thought this also meant he would only have a short set. The moment came where the lights went down and he took the stage, Abby couldn't help but laugh as all the girls in the crowd screamed for him and said things like "oh my gosh he's so hot!" He did look really good up there on stage, she was wishing she had a closer seat.

"I've been writing some new music, would ya'll like to hear a new song tonight?" Dustin asked the crowd

Crowd cheers

"There's a story behind this song, it's about being stuck in the friend zone" he continued "you see there was this girl at this bar, we danced, she left then came back and danced a bit more"

This sounds strangely familiar Abby was thinking as she listened to him tell the story

"she would play with my hat, taking it off my head put it on hers, and was basically teasing me all night, I wasn't sure what she wanted" he told

You've got to be kidding me right now! Abby was freaking out at this point

"So I went and I wrote this song about it, hope you like it, it's called Middle of Nowhere" Dustin said as he started playing the first chords of the song.

Abby was ready to pay super close attention to the lyrics.

Is that a green light? Is that a stop sign?

With those lyrics it was no doubt in Abby's mind that it was about her, this told her she wasn't just another girl to him, their time together had meant something to him as it did for her.

She watched him closely while he sang it, he closed his eyes for some parts, it was clear he was really feeling the lyrics and she liked to think he was thinking of her the whole time. had he been searching the crowd for her? She knew right away where she must go after the concert was over tonight and she hoped he would have the same idea.
