Rachel and Kyle had spent the rest of the night watching the sky and making small talk, but as soon as Rachel heard the footsteps of other life forms, they rushed downstairs and to the dinner table.
The room itself was large, papered with obnoxious blue wallpaper with golden pillars printed on it that tried to make the room like bigger than it already was. Which was ridiculous as the room was already as big as the one in her grandad's mansion. A four yard table of oaken wood with place mats set.
"Ah, there you are~!"
Stepping out of the door the kitchen was a tiny blonde haired woman with a plate of pancakes and bacon entered the room.
"Hey Judy." Rachel said. "How's it going?"
"Nice to finally meet you when I'm conscious." Kyle said.
"The pleasure's all mine sweetheart. Now your friend told me you'd be mighty hungry after wakin' up, so I made yah a big ol' breakfast."
She set the plate of food down in front of Kyle, who, after a minute or two of trying to look patient, practically dug her face into it.
"Good?"
"Oh mah goa yeef!" Kyle said through her full mouth.
"Good heavens you work fast girl. Good thing I got more! I'll be right back!"
Rachel just watched Kyle stuffing herself and suddenly felt that hollow tingling up in her shoulders and hips. Kyle instantly stopped and turned her cool blue eyes to her friend. She swallowed her food.
"You're hungry too."
Rachel blushed a bit and gave a silent nod. Kyle was about to offer her arm to her, when Rachel suddenly held up her hand. She could smell people coming.
'Later, okay?'
'Got it.'
"By the way, where are Erin and Nola?" Rachel said.
"They went back to Magicant while you were in Trance. We'll catch up with them." Kyle promised.
The big wooden door to the hall swung open and in came Kelly. She was wearing a pink dress with an animated image of a puma on it. She was holding that doll tight in her arms, too.
"Mr. Buns?" Kyle asked.
Kelly tilted her head.
"You know each other?"
Kyle stared intently at the bunny. Rachel joined her. Given what she had seen in her flashbacks, it did remind her of Mr. Buns. The major difference was that this one looked a bit more well off - where Mr. Buns had frayed hair and a stitched smile, this bunny looked like its hairs were each individually perfectly placed to look like a plastic casing. Rachel was surprised to see it suddenly glow purple. So was Kelly.
"Aah!" Kelly said, in surprise, dropping the doll.
The image of the puma suddenly jumped into a position of "HIDING NOW!". Rachel turned to look at Kyle, who had a gentle smile on her face while her eyes glowed purple. Her hands were pointed at the doll. As it fell to the ground, she moved her hands and it stood up of its own accord and brushed itself off. Kyle then moved her fingers and the little doll grabbed the leg of the chair, and climbed to the top of the table and politely bowed to Kelly.
"Oh my gosh! That is so cool! How are you doing that?!"
The puma image on Kelly's shirt was now calm again, and a ball of yarn rolled in from 'off screen', which it started to play with.
"Magic." Kyle said.
She spun her hands around, and the doll followed suit, making a pirouette and then leaping over the empty plates on the table, landed gracefully into a twirl before finally stopping on its heel and curtsying. The puma went from 'curious' to delighted.
