~~~Destiny's P.O.V.~~~
Had I teleported? I couldn't have. But what else happened? We were already there? That wasn't it. But who else could have teleported? Cory? Had it really been me?
These thoughts flew though my head while I hurried back towards my house. I wasn't even here for a day and I had already done something weird, great. Note the heavy sarcasm.
There were too many emotions running though my head. It was dangerous, very dangerous. I changed my course, going away from my parents and snuck into the woods of the park that was just past my house and next to the cemetery. I deep- at least I think I did- into the woods and used a tree to slowly sink to the ground. I had to calm down and quick before I started a fire.
I heard leaves rustling, at first I thought that it was caused by all my shaking, but then I heard the footsteps and the panting. A boy came running though the trees just a few feet away from me and it scared me so much that I lost control for a moment and I accidentally conjured a fire right in front of me.
"Wow. Get away from there," the boy gasped when he noticed the fire and stopped running. But I didn't move, I was too busy concentrating on stopping it, nothing was happening, damn. Suddenly there was a strong wind and the fire stopped almost as soon as it had started. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," but I didn't need your advise, I could have could have stopped it if the wind never came.
"Good, nice to see you again, Destiny was it?"
My head snapped up at the sound of my name. It was the boy, the same one form the airport. The one with the light brown hair and my same colored eyes. "Uh, yeah."
"It's weird that I would see you again. Oh, I'm Tristan, by the way, I never got to introduce myself before."
I just started at him like an idiot.
~~~Tristan's P.O.V.~~~

"Trist, come down here now, I need your help moving some boxes."

I groaned. "Mom, don't call me 'Trist', it sounds like a girl's name." Actually, I thought my whole name had a feminine sound to it. I stomped down stairs and helped her move our boxes to the right rooms.

My mom and I had moved when my dad was killed by the daylighters. We moved to Salem because my mom had relatives here and there was a large coven of nightlighers.

My mom was...struggling. It's hard, I must imagine, losing your 'soul mate'. I sometimes think that the only thing that carries her to keep fighting though the days is for me.

But I don't believe in 'soul mates', the one that is destined for you and the other half of your soul and all of that crap. I think that all of that is just something that girls made up so that they can turn any old guy into prince charming. Those girls need a news flash, guys aren't perfect! Yeah, our ego has us thinking that we are, but we aren't.

I could get love, I mean, I am not totally heartless, but I don't believe in 'being made' for someone else. Not anymore I don't. It is said that when an Extraordinary meets their soul mate, the get a mark, that they just know. I had thought that there was such a thing once, but the girl ended up leaving me for a football player, there's no such thing as soul mates.

"I am going for a run mom, don't wait up," I told her after I had moved all of her boxes and changed into my running shorts.

A few miles over was a park, I decided that a run in the park would be relaxing, something that I needed. Normally, I would run with my mp3, but there were too many boxes to dig though to find it.

The park was only two miles away and I got there in about twelve minutes and I wasn't even winded yet. I thought for a seconds, then ran into the woods within the small park. I wasn't even in there that fear when I suddenly heard a gasp.

I stopped and whirled around to see a girl with fire-red hair and wide, frightened blue eyes. Then I saw a fire appear in front of her. "Wow, get away from there." Where did that come from? That wasn't there a second ago, was it?

Trying to be discrete, I summoned my element, wind, and made it seem like a gust of wind caused the fire to go out. I just hoped that she didn't notice it wasn't a very windy day. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah," she mumbled. Then I looked closely at her, she was the girl from the airport, the one who was having trouble with her bags. She was one of us, an Extraordinary. She must have started the fire.

What did that man call her again...? Deanna? Danielle? Desire? Destiny? I think that one's it... "Good. Nice to see you again, Destiny, was it?"

Her head, which was still staring at where the fire had been just moments ago, snapped up to look at me. Her eyes widened again as she recognized me as I had recognized her. "Uh, yeah."

"It's weird that I would see you again." Especially when I had vowed to figure out what sides she's on. "Ph, I'm Tristan, by the way," I flinched a little at my name but continued, "I never got to introduce myself before."

She gaped at me for a second, then shook her head and regained her composure. "Nice to meet you Tristan." She stretched her hand out and I reached out to shake her head but yanked my hand back as soon as our hands meet. It felt like she had burned my palm. Was it some kind of sick joke? If it was then way was she holding her hand like she was in pain?

I tried to restart the conversation as short awkward silence began to consume us. "So how do you think that fire started?"

"It... um...uh, freak accident." It sounded like a question.

Nice excuse. "Or you started it."

"No, no, I....I couldn't of...I, uh, don't know...I don't have any matches." She scrambled though half started explanations before she settled on that one.

She really needed to work and her explanations. "No, I meant mentally, you started it with your mind."

"I-I, no," she sighed and gave up on excuses. Her eyes went hard as she glared at me, "Maybe, but if you have a problem with that, you better-"

"No, no, it's not that, I was just curious, you see, I have a special ability of my own."

Her threatening expression folded into a look that was inexplicably vulnerable. "Really?" she whispered, her quiet voice guarded.

"Sure, are you up for a nice breeze?" I said as I summoned up a gust of wind. But it ended up being slightly too strong and knocked her off balance and into me. I caught her in my arms and for a second-before she moved away again- I felt lightheaded, like I wasn't getting enough air. But I just shrugged it off.

"Sorry," she mumbled.

I shrugged. "My wind, my fault."

"You really did that?"

"Yep. I know lots of people who have abilities like us."

"So I am not a freak, not a huge genetic mistake?" she asked, her voice full of awe at this revelation. I was not entirely sure if I was the one she was talking to or she was talking to herself.

A freak? That's what she thought we were? Freaks? Extraordinaries were better than mere humans and yet she still called us freaks? Well she obviously didn't know what she was.

"Nope. You're an Extraordinary." I watched her face carefully as that sank in.
