Kirikai briskly walked down the long halls of the palace, he was performing his daily visit to his brother's room to catch him before he disappeared for the long, busy day. It ate at his nerves that his little brother never had any responsibilities. Even if he wasn't the heir to his father's throne, it would most definitely please him to see his fire tempered brother experience the same amount of stress he is put under daily. Just thinking about this make Kirikai's stomach twist in annoyance. Arriving at the thick wooden door, he could see the patched wood from the multiple times Azubuike had fractured the dark oak boards. He knew Azubuike wasn't going to be in there. He never was. The brass door knob turned with ease as he placed his Carmel olive hand upon it. The door flew open and sure enough the younger brother was no where to be seen.
"Azu... What the hell are you thinking..." He whispered with an irritated groan.
Swiftly and with no delay, he raced down the hall and through the gate. He was going to catch up to his brother even if he had to miss the morning meeting with his father. There was absolutely no way that Azubuike was going to run off with no one standing up to him. This was the last straw and Azubuike was going to get what he deserved. The path was unfamiliar to him. The winding dirt path formed into a well paved road. His feet pushed him forward, tapping the ground with swiftness. The still morning breeze sharply blow his soft hair, opening his view. As the city of Haruna came to view so did Azubuike. He stood at the trolly station waiting quietly as usual. The trolly was approaching, Kirikai had no time, he picked up his pace. He was the faster brother but certainly not the strongest. He could only hope Azubuike was in a delightful mood.
"Azubuike!" He called to his brother with hope he would be heard
The silver haired boy turned towards Kirikai, rolling his crystal eyes and boarded the trolly.
"Shit..." He muttered before pushing all his energy into one final sprint.
The loud ring of metal against metal screeched in his ears. Time after time he reached for the handle placed on the moving engine blindly. The smoke rose from beneath and into his eyes. Finally his fingers met the cold metal, grasping it tightly before giving a leap. Right then left, each foot found the flooring. Confused eyes found him as well, including Azubuike's. Kirikai straightened his posture from his out of place landing position and moved elegantly down the isle, seating himself aside the nearly identical boy. Kirikai ran his fingers through his hair and along the short, stubby brain decorated with gold beads. Releasing an unsteady sigh, he spoke quietly.
"You seriously are an idiot"
Azubuike did not draw any physical attention to his brother. Not a sign of acknowledgement to the statement spoken to him.
"You're not the only one in this family Azu. You have to think about your responsibility as a member of the Onyx family! I can't keep picking up your slack because you're too lazy to do it yourself!" Kirikai lectured him on and on with no end in sight. He constantly told Azubuike of his worthlessness and his lack of purpose within the Onyx line.
A deep, humorous chuckle rose from the very bottom of his throat and escaping though his lips. They formed a shadowed smirk the longer he listened.
"Are you kidding me...?" With those four words, Azubuike silenced his babbling brother along with the entire residence of the trolly. He lifted his ice blue eyes to meet Kirikai's and spoke in a tone that almost mocked Kirikai.
"Responsibility? What's this shit about being a member of the family?! Since when have I been treated as a member of the family?!" His voice was dark and flowed with an angered melody. He stood, his hands clenched with much ferocity.
Kirikai's stance didn't move from his annoyed glare and relaxed seating. Was Azubuike really trying to scare him with all his two year old temper tantrum threats.
"Well of coarse you're a member of this family!" He paused to rethink his statement instead of yelling at him. The trolly came to a sudden stop and the bell chimed, echoing through the silent car. The passengers scurried off like frightened mice. When the crowd cleared and Kirikai was left alone. Azubuike was no where to be seen.
"Perfect... It's just like him to run away" he whispered through an annoyed mumble.
No matter how hard he tried, Azubuike was stubborn and cold hearted. He listened to no one but himself. It was clear to Kirikai why his mother was so broken hearted over Azubuike's actions. It pained him to see what his mother felt. The way she lingered in her room day after day, watching him leave the gates in a hurry. Her heart was broken and it was all his fault.
