Once upon a time, in a land far away called Wipperby, there lived many living things. These living things lived (and live still) in harmony with one another, even though they are all very different. They eat different things, sleep different ways, and all speak in different languages.
If you ever find yourself in Wipperby, and I suppose one day you will, you might wonder exactly what you're looking at. This book can act as a guide for you. It could also act as an encyclopedia, or strictly for entertainment purposes (seeing as these creatures are quite the characters on their own). Or, of course, this book could act as a paper weight. But let's hope it never comes to that.
Are you sitting comfortably? If not, find a way to. Even at school, this is possible. Just pretend you're not there, if you are. Take yourself to Wipperby. It's easy. Shut yourself inside this book and transport yourself there mentally. That's half the trip. Wrap a (metaphorical or literal) blanket round yourself, cozy up beside the (hopefully literal) fire, and crack open the (actual real) book to page number one. Then, begin.
....Unless, of course, you are in need of something more intellectual at the moment – say, if you're actually in Wipperby at-this-very-moment-and-you'd-like-very-much-to-identify-whatever-that-thing-is-which-is-staring-at-you-with-bright-big-eyes-and-teeth, then by all means do go on to whatever page you may need. Or use the handy index at the back, if you'd like to tell of your travels whilst pointing at the proper pictures so your friends may say nice things like, "My, those are large teeth!" and "Blimey, what courage you must have had to have faced such a fearsome creature!"
Anyways, in whichever way you may need, do enjoy the book. After all, this is Wipperby we're talking about. There is no such thing as not enjoying yourself here....I think.
