It was quiet. I sat on a log across from the reserved man as he stared into the fire. The heat from the fire warmed my hands while I rubbed them together to fray from the crisp breeze. "Something about you is different," The man mumbled towards the fire. For a minute, I began to believe he was uttering words to me but his posture kept to himself as his voice became soft. "You've lasted longer than the others." The trees that surrounded us grew dark as the sun made its final words for the day.  The clouds started to fade and the full moon was above us. "Lucas." He lifted his head towards me. "I don't like the name, Luke. I prefer to be called Lucas."

"Why don't you like to be called Luke, if you don't mind me asking?" His hands start to twitch as he looks up towards the white moon that brightens the. night sky.

Completely ignoring the question, Lucas stands up. "We have to go,". I followed him down the trail and before I could say anything he stops and turns towards me,  "And don't ask why." He rolled his eyes and continues down the narrow path as branches began to scrape my arms. I looked back at the fire we left active, wondering if we'll ever see it again during the night.

We arrived at a small wooden house. Lucas fills on top of the door, patting his hand around the boarder. A silver key falls to the floor. "Don't, touch it. I got it." Lucas opens the front door, he looks back at me with look of fear in his eyes. Before I could ask what's wrong the lights flash on and a tall middle-aged man with stubble on his face is leaning on the edge of the hallway wall. "You're late. Down to the cellar." The man eyes me then Lucas. "Who's this?" Lucas was reluctant to open his mouth, leaving it quiet for a few seconds. "Sabrina." I say, breaking the silence.

"I didn't ask you. I asked Luke...Did you kill this one too?" I was slightly appalled by his remark.

"No." Lucas turns his head to the side, looking at the bushes.

"Really? How can I trust you after all that you've done lately?" My stomach knots as he takes a few steps towards me. "Are you a werewolf in desperate need of help?" I shake my head. "Are you a werewolf at all?" I shake my head again. The smell of his breathe touches my nose, and it wreaks of disappointment.

"Luke you know the rules! How many times do we have to tell you? What is this, your 9th time bringing a dead soul here?" Do you know how much trouble you could bring here by killing another human? Why would you kill her in the first place? "

"Hey, last time I checked we were both once humans too." The man was baffled. The first time I saw Lucas stand his ground with this guy. Almost as if the word "human" triggers him. "And she's the one."

"What do you mean by the one?"  He evaluates me looking me up and down. "You mean she's the one who almost tried to expose us." Lucas nods his head. "Then why-" The man looks at his watch. "We'll talk about this later". The man and Lucas head down the hallway leaving me outside on the porch. I took it amounts myself to head inside since they left the front door wide open.
