Liam
It's dark now, "only 9:00pm and the streets are already empty." I sigh, already bored of the night and this town.
I stare out the window for a moment longer before pulling back and closing the blinds, "Maybe everyone is scared of the dark here," My roommate, Jack jokes poking his head from behind the corner "Maybe we just moved into the middle of a cult and they're all together right now planning on the best way to sacrifice us and-"
"Just," I pause, cutting his ranting off "Shut up, dude."
He chuckles again and reaches in the fridge for another beer. I shake my head, but quietly laugh with him, enjoying the company.
We just moved here- to this hole in the wall town in North Dakota, New Haven it's called. Only has a population of 700 people and I can only say one good thing about this place, out of the 5 girls that actually seem to live here, they're all pretty fucking hot. Welcome to New Haven, indeed.
"Ready to get fucking wasted tonight?" He asks, wiggling his beer in my face mockingly. I can't help the annoyed look that graces my face as I go cross eyed from how close the object is to me, "Ready as I'll ever be" I respond tiredly, anything to get this night started and make this town a little more bearable.
-------
1 long-cold hour later
"We need to pack up our shit and leave right. Fucking. Now." Jack deadpans, groaning as we walk to yet another closed pub. I frown and mock his groan, we've been walking around this dead town for the past hour in the freezing cold trying to find an open bar and we've yet to find one. "What gives anyway? It's only like 10:30, it's a fucking Saturday and this is a fucking bar! Where's my beer?" He whines, flailing his arms around in defeat childishly.
I chuckle, wrapping my arms around myself to keep warm. It's so quiet here, not a sound comes from any direction, no animals, people, music- it's weirdly quiet and makes my stomach churn in anticipation. Turning my back to Jack I look up and down the street for any signs of life, trying to find a light coming from any of the roadside stores- not one.
"Everything closes at 8:30 here," A deep voice says from beside me
I jump, "Holy-" Stepping back, I eye the man up and down "What the fuck, man?"
The man chuckles deeply, his chocolate eyes never leaving my face. "We have curfew here."
I take him in for a moment, noting how sketchy he looks. Clothed in all black from head to toe, it seems to bring out the yellow in his teeth and weirdly his eyes, just looking at him makes me want to go shower. "You've got to be kidding me. Jack, I agree with you now. Let's pack the fuck up and go home." Chuckling I spin around to face him, only to be met with yet another man dressed in all black, same yellow color replacing the whites in his eyes and teeth. "What the-"
And just like that, I'm met with darkness.
