Chapter 2

The last bell of the day rang and everyone gathered their things and stormed out the doors.

After all, it was Friday and everyone wanted nothing more than to go home and rest after a long weeks worth of school.

And I agreed.

I wanted nothing more than to feel the warmth of my covers as a lay in bed, dreaming about him and our moment in the cafeteria.

I replayed it in my mind and thought about his last words.

"Next time." I whispered to myself as I touched my lips.

I gathered my things & headed out to the hall and towards the main doors.

I pushed the door open & began walking to the buses.

"Wait, " I said to myself as I finally realized what was wrong.

I had forgotten that I'd made plans to stay with Mr. Gutierrez this afternoon to catch up with the work I'd missed.

"Ughh." I groaned to myself and turned back around , pushing through the people that were trying to get out the door.

I walked through the main hallways and headed in the direction of the classroom, removing all previous thoughts of him from my head.

I had finally made it to the other end of the hallway and approached his door.

I knocked twice.

"¿Señor? Soy Nicole. I'm here for tutorial! "

I waited for an answer.

Nothing.

"Wait, " I thought to myself. " He did say he had a meeting, so he must have left already. " I thought. "Someone is supposed to be inside, though so I'll try again. "

I remembered that whoever this person was, had a tendency of listening to music really loud.

I knocked again, but this time harder.

"Anyone there? Hello? Anyone? " I said through the door's side.

Still no answer.

I was getting frustrated and figured that maybe no one showed up and I had just been knocking like an idiot for 5 minutes.

I knocked again harder & still nothing.

I decided to just give up.

I began writing a note explaining what happened and just slide it under the door.

"...there was no response and I had to leave. I will try...no no... I will do my best to stay next week. Signed Nicole" I said out loud as I finished writing.

I folded the note and kneeled down to slide it under the door.
As I began sliding it, I heard something like a door opening and then it hit me. Literally.

"Ahhh!" I yelled as I held my face.

"Oh my god! I'm sorry." the familiar voice said. "I didn't hear you knocking. I'm so sorry." he continued.

"Umm...ouch. It's...ahh..alright. Don't sweat it. " I said as I continued holding my face.

"Here. I'll help you up. " the voice said as he held his hand out for me to reach.

"Thanks." I said as I took the stranger's hand and got up.

"No problem." he paused and then continued. "Wait , It's you!" he exclaimed as I looked up and realized who I was talking to.
