Alice~

With a jerk, I woke up breathing heavy. Ever since my parents died I've been having nightmares, but I obviously I wasn't going to tell Grace or Celeste about them.

I climbed out of my sleeping bag and slipped out of the back of the bed of the truck trying not to make a sound. Making no sound was a good choice at the time because I didn't feel like talking about the one topic that we have been thinking about since last night. The shadow, and the boy.

I slipped my hand over the edge of the car and grabbed my shoes. In the morning, I usually went for a walk to get my mind of things and this was definitely the day to do so.

As I started walking I thought about what Grace and Celeste had said before our parents died, " Stay by our side, it's easy to get lost." I shrugged that aside and kept walking.

****

Apparently it was easy to get lost because that's exactly what I did. I found myself in the middle of nowhere and the only building was a weird treehouse thing, so I did what I had to do, and walked up to it.

I knocked once, and the door swung open to a girl with icy blue eyes.

"What do you want" she said holding her knife at her side.

"Uhh, I'm lost so, could you help me find my way back?" I asked as nicely as possible, even though it wasn't safe to just go talking to people these days. "Or at least let me come inside?"

"Oh!" she said with a small smile. "Are you hurt in any way?"

"Ummm" I looked at my arms and legs just to check. "Doesn't appear that I am."

"Well, then, no you can't" she said before shutting the door in my face. It took me about two seconds to realize what I should've realized when I opened the door. She's alive. A survivor. Wait till I tell them about this.

It took me about a minute to get enough courage to cut my leg so I could enter. I winced at the pain as the sharp, metallic blade sliced through my thigh. I let out a tiny whimper, at least trying to get her attention. I knocked on the door and she answered with an irritated look.

"Didn't I already see you" she announced. Rolling her eyes, I thought I saw a tiny flash of white in them, but it was probably the sun.

"I'm hurt. Can you help me now?" I questioned.

"You are?" she looked down at my bleeding leg, and grabbed my hand to pull me inside.

"Woah" I murmured. This place was amazing. It had technology surrounding it, and rooms filled with doctors supplies.

"Lay down." she demanded. Being the nice, frightened girl I was, I sat down on the soft bed.

"So...what's your name?" I asked as I fiddled with some gadgets I had found on a table near by.

"Alex." she grabbed the stuff out of my hand and put it on another table without meeting my eyes.

Suddenly another voice came from down the hallway.

"Actually, her name is Alexa, but she hates being called that so...I call her Alex." when they revealed themselves, I figured out that these were the people we saw at the gas station. It was the mysterious blonde boy.

"Erik" he held out his hand. "But I changed my name to Erik Tricity because it had a better ring to it" he chuckled as Alex wrapped my leg.

"So are you two dati-" I was quickly cut of by both of them yelling "NOOO. We're brother and sister."

"Oh okay" I was a little embarrassed, so I nervously laughed it off.

"You're all done" she reported "You can leave."

Alex tried pushing me out the door when I shouted "WAIT, I need to get back to my car!"

"I can do that" Erik hollered making me jump.

How does he keep appearing? I thought.

He strutted over his computer and, "BAM" making me jump again he gave me directions back to my car.

Alex shoved me out of their house and I started back down the road to my truck.
