He chuckled. "Sweetheart, I don't think it's possible for me to carry you down that latter." She pouted, but followed him downstairs all the same and sat down at the kitchen table.
Despite being surrounded by windows, Demetri was right- it was warmer down here.
"What do you want for breakfast, Love?" He asked, wrapping his arms around her from behind and resting his chin on her shoulder.
"I can make breakfast, Demetri. You don't have to." She said, slowly becoming more alert. The sleep had left her eyes, though she yawned here and there. Standing, she slipped out of his arms and walked over to the fridge, opening it to see what she had to work with.
Except she was lifted off her feet and placed behind Demetri, so that he now stood in front of the fridge. "Baby, I'll do it. You still need to wake up."
Taking this as a challenge, Tessa used all her strength to push him over. She would never be as strong as him, she knew that, but she was hoping that that the element of surprise would be in her favor as she threw all her weight into pushing him off balance.
It worked. Surprise was evident on his face as all one hundred and eight pounds of her five-foot frame barrelled into him, knocking him off-balance and away from the large appliance. Triumphantly she stepped forward, only to be hip checked out of the way by Demetri. Latching onto his back, she wrapped her legs around his waist and refused to let go, even as he laughed and swung her around to try and dislodge her.
"I hate to interrupt..." The couple swung around, Tessa almost tumbling to the floor when she saw Atticus standing in the open front door. Sliding from Demetri's back as gracefully as she could, she quickly buttoned the buttons Demetri had left undone on her shirt before coming out from behind him. It wasn't like she was particularly shy- she found she couldn't be here- but she knew Demetri would not appreciate a male, even mated, seeing something of his in that way.
"What is it, Atticus?" She asked, putting a pot of water on the stove. "Tea?"
"No, thank you. Cecilia needs you at the main building as soon as possible. It had something to do with Kasper." Demetri nodded, wrapping an arm around Tessa as she sucked in a breath.
"We'll be there soon." He said. Atticus nodded his head before pushing off from the door frame and leaving them alone, shutting the door quietly behind him.
"Why don't you go take a shower while I make breakfast? We'll be quicker that way." Demetri said, pulling pancake mix out of the cupboard.
"Or we could both make breakfast, then both get a shower, then both get dressed." Tessa suggested, waiting for the water on the stove to boil. She handed a pan to Demetri, who nodded.
"Seems fair enough. But we've only got one shower."
Tessa grinned mischievously. "That shouldn't be a problem."
