"Is it alright if I come in?" The silky smooth voice asks again.
"Yeah...yup, sure." My voice shakes. I suddenly remember how badly my head is pounding. I sit down on the bed and take deep breaths.
It seems to take ages for Leonardo DiCaprio to come around the corner into the room and into my line of vision. I really hope this isn't a dream.
He's wearing simple blue jeans, a dark blue polo and a sports cap. I feel my mouth drop open but I try to hide my surprise. I'm not sure if I'm stunned because I'm seeing a man who is always dressed elegantly, now dressed like a simple and normal human being... or because this man in front of me is in fact Leonardo DiCaprio.
Probably both.
"It's nice to officially meet you. I'm Leo." He offers his hand and smiles and the dimples I see remind me so much of Jack Dawson I need to close my eyes and take a deep breath before shaking his hand.
"I'm Christina. Christina Hinman." My voice shakes again and I even slur my words a little. I thought that part at least would go away by morning.
"Oh that's right, you got a bit drunk last night... you must not be feeling too well." Each facial expression he uses makes me want to flip out. My inner teenage is definitely screaming inside me. But I try to keep cool because I don't want to scare him.
"Ohh I'm alright. Thank you so much for giving me a place to stay last night. That was incredibly kind of you." I try to make my voice sound stronger. It seems to work.
"It's not a problem at all." He brushes off my words with a wave of his hand. "But what were you doing right outside my door in the pouring rain last night?"
I bite my lip. Once again I am terrified to think about what I did last night. I just hope I didn't humiliate myself too much...
"Oh I didn't mean to stand right outside your door, I had just left my cousin Carolines' and I was waiting for a taxi."
"Of course." His gleaming icy blue eyes gaze so softly into mine, my head starts spinning again. "I know Caroline very well. I'd heard about her having an engagement party. Wish I'd been invited though." His laughs a little. "But you must have been out there at least a half hour. It was freezing and I had to get you inside. I don't think any taxi was coming for you."
I feel overwhelmed that anyone, especially Leonardo freaking DiCaprio would care about me so much. "Well, thank you. Again." I say awkwardly. "It was so so kind of you to allow me into your stunning home." I stand up shakily to make my way to the door.
"You can't leave yet!" The way he says it reminds me so much of Jay Gatsby I blush and laugh loudly. "What!?" He joking looks hurt. "I've got to learn more about you before you run out the door. And I don't think it's the best idea for you to go outside in... that state."
"It was nothing, I just... well you... just reminded me of Jay Gatsby when you said that. That's one of your best... well one of my favorites... it was just... you were great in that one." I finally get it out and feel so frustrated with myself for sounding like some teenage fangirl.
Now it's his turn to laugh, but it's light and kind. "How about I make you some breakfast? I'm happy to have the company, really." His face is so adorable I feel obliged to say yes. It's great to be spending time with my longtime celeb crush, but I must look like literal garbage. I really don't want him seeing me like this.
"Really I'm fine on breakfast, I'm really not hungry." Just as I finish the sentence my stomach makes a huge growl, blowing my cover.
"Your stomach seems to think otherwise." He jokes again. "Why don't you take a shower while I make you something to eat. You can use those there," He points to the towels I had noticed before. "And I'll show you the bathroom."
"Wow yeah, that would be perfect." I push my slipping glasses back up my nose. I grab the the towels quickly and turn back to face him.
He leads me past a few rooms down the hall and into a beautiful crystal lined bathroom. The mirrors and white tiles shined so brightly, and when I glanced at my reflection I felt the need to puke again. My hair is a huge rats nest and the dress I'm wearing from last night has several liquor stains. My glasses are covered with finger prints and worst of all, my mascara (which of course I had caked on last night) is dried all under my eyes and down my cheeks after being partially washed away by the rain.
Luckily Leo doesn't seem to be judging me for any of this. Or maybe he's just really good at acting. Yeah that seems more likely...
Leo looks me in the eyes again and I can't help but feel admired by those looks of his. "Take as long as you need..." He says as he goes to walk into the hallway. "Old sport." He adds and winks at me.
Now I may pass out.
