Willow is the son of a knight for King Arthur. One day when Willow is but a lad his father is sommoned to Camelot. They are to divide the land between the knights but his father is killed when he tries to protect the King.
Willow is filled with sorrow as he and his mother, Julia, must continue on without his father. They tend to the land that is left to them and the small village that his father had governed.
Years later when the man who killed his father comes back to take Excaliber. End the end the blade ends up lost in the Forgotten Forest. Willow believes that with his mother captured and to be like his father he must find and return Excaliber to King Arthur.
He is able to escape Sir Magnox, and his pet griffin.
During his time searching for the sword Willow is rescued by a blind man named Gareth. Gareth travels with a bird named Silverwing who is charged with protecting Excaliber by Merlin.
By following these two Willow might be able to find and return the sword to its owner.
Along the way Willow comes to have feelings for Gareth.

he names it Aiden
