Dipper's POV
I took a deep breath, and peered through the trees. There she was, sitting on the edge of the falls, the sunset glancing off her fiery red hair. She giggled, and glanced to her left. I felt my stomach flop when she smiled. She was just so perfect! Oh how I wished that I could-
Robbie was with her. Idiot! I thought. I should've known he would be with her! I shifted the flowers in my hand. The bouquet was for her...but if she was with Robbie...
"It's nice just to hang out with you, dude." I heard her say. "I mean, it's not weird or anything... I mean when we're just friends, you know?" She slugged his arm. Robbie laughed nervously. I beamed at my realization...she wasn't dating Robbie! Yes!
"It's kinda nice, not liking anybody like that." She continued. I felt my heart sink, but... I had known that for a while... And I could change it... Right?....
"No heartbreak, no drama...but at the same time...having a crush is nice..." I perked up. "It gives you something...and someone, to look forward to..." I noticed Robbie sigh. Creep.
"I kinda need a break from that sort of thing." She laid back. "Dipper's nice...he's fun, and cute...but in a little brother sort of way..." Wait...what?
"I'm sure we could always be friends...but nothing more. He's just too young, you know?"
She sat up and slugged Robbie again. "It's nice to talk, dude." She said.
I felt tears welling up...never...like me? I dropped the bouquet, and ran into the forest...Wendy's smile still on my mind as my heart shattered.
