Lilah’s Point of View
I woke up and sat up quickly, blinking. My head spun and I waited a few minutes for the spinning to stop. I opened my eyes and looked around, remembering what happened last night. I was in what looked like a hospital room, another bed in the room. All my clothes had been hung and folded, placed neatly in the dresser opposite from me. The white walls were bare and other than the flowers and a lone lamp, the room was blank of personalization. I climbed out of bed and noticed I was still wearing my clothes from the previous day. I walk over to the mirror that hangs over the dresser and studied my features.
My dark brown hair was overgrown. It came down in tight waves to past my rib cage. My cheekbones protruded from my face more than normal, making my already dark freckles more prominent. My plump lips weren’t as pink as normal, and my entire face looked drained of color. I changed out of my old clothes into new ones and walked out of the room in hopes of answers.
Nelia’s Point of View
I walk out of my room and immediately crash into a tall brown haired girl.
“Watch it! What, are the clouds blocking your view of Earth?” I spat and then turned away from her and began walking downstairs.
“Hey! Wait!” She called. I rolled my eyes and sighed.
“What?” I snapped.
“Where am I?” She asked
“Wait, you actually don’t know where you are? I guess you really do belong here.”
“What are you talking about!” I saw the gears turning in her head, then something clicked “Oh, no I know that I’m at a mental institute, but, where?”
“Morgan Mental Institute. We’re only class 1 crazy, so we’re allowed to wander downstairs, and sometimes outside. But as far as location?” She nodded for me to go on.
“We’re about an hour west of Olympia, Washington.”
“Oh. Are there more class 1 people?” I begin to grow annoyed with all her questions.
“You ask a lot of questions.” I say, tired of this game.
“Sorry.. I just have no idea what’s going on.” She looked like she was a puppy that just got kicked. I sighed and began walking.
“There are five of us, well, six now” I say, motioning to her. “There’s Vale, Asher, Paxton, and me, Nelia. Your name is..?” I ask, realizing I never got it.
“Her name is Lilah.” Paxton walks over to us.
“Really, Paxton? Already with your mind reading mumbo jumbo?”
“Mind reading?” Lilah looks at me like I’m nuts
“It’s not mumbo jumbo. How else would I know her name?” Paxton answers both me and Lilah at the same time.
“Same as always, Paxton. You snuck into the records room and looked at her record.” I answer him, bitchiness seeping into my voice.
“Believe whatever you want, Cornelia.” Paxton smirked.
“It’s Nelia, you nerdy little freak” I say through gritted teeth pushing his scrawny body up against the wall.
“Woah, woah, Nelia calm down.” Asher appears out of nowhere, separating Paxton and I. Vale follows not far behind. I feel my hands heat up to an uncomfortable temperature.
“Whatever.” I say and walk away. I feel my hands instantly start to cool down. I try to calm myself down, the last time I got too mad, someone almost died.
