The dress code states that the school's staff expects students to dress appropriately for school. Research has shown that, student's dress and appearance effects a student's attitude  and conduct.  Therefore, the school prohibits anything distracting, disruptive to the learning environment.

Yet I've seen a teacher dress code a student because her shirt was hanging a few careless centimeters off her shoulders.

Students shouldn't have to cover so much of their skin to the point where they basically are wearing their entire closet to be within "dress code regulation."
What is so distracting about my ripped jeans?

"The rips are too big and people will stare at you making you feel uncomfortable."

If school has taught me anything it was, to not care what anyone else thought of me or the things that I wear.

We encourage students to express themselves freely as long as they don't hurt anyone. So why can't we express ourselves with our clothing?
Why enforce the dress code when it doesn't need to be enforced?
Since our taste in clothing is so "distracting" just give everyone an orange jumpsuit and an inmate number.
