-We are all like the bright moon, we still have our dark side-
Artemis
Her hunter lay motionless, her eyes drained of life, what were once a sky blue now a glazed sea of nothingness that she could barely look at. Her comrades lifted the fallen, carrying her back to the camp. Artemis didn't budge, only stared at the stars and hoped her hunter would be well in the afterlife, and make it safely to elysium.
It wasn't until after the hunters left the small clearing that Artemis let herself cry, a few clear tears staining the Goddess's crimson cheeks, her head hung heavy and she didn't dare speak, for she knew her voice would only wobble and shake.
However as the Goddess turned she noticed the air in the woods shift, her muscles tensed as the moon above her darkened. Eyes resting upon the black figure in front of her.
"I see another has been lost." The figure was cloaked, a turquoise fabric that blanketed the thin frame of whoever stood at the entrance of the clearing, their voice spoke softly though Artemis heard it loud and clear, judging from the tone they were male.
"And who might you be." Artemis chose her words carefully, having felt the power radiating off the figure almost immediately, there was no sign of the hunters around and Artemis accepted the fact that she stood alone in this fight.
"Ah my dear, for that is not the matter of importance right now," they paused, Artemis could feel their eyes burning into her skull, the raspy voice almost raking across her skin like creepy crawlies.
The shadow stood there for a moment longer, they exchanged words, until Artemis realised she was only staring at rustling trees, an empty space left from where he had stood, or perhaps there had been no figure there in the first place, perhaps Artemis had imagined the entire conversation, if you could have called it that.
However, without a doubt, Artemis found herself holding knew purpose, there was no reason for her to trust such a secretive whatever they were, though the words that were spoken still seemed to have an effect on her. Almost like charm speak had washed over though Artemis knew Aphrodite wouldn't have known such a thing nor would have the power that seemed to radiate off the figure.
She unsheathed a thin silver arrow and knocked it on her bow, holding it towards the ground, eyes trained on the clearing ahead, she knew what she had to do, and no matter how hard it hurt there was no other way out.
The hunters are planning an attack on you.
"I will have to attack them first."
They're going to kill you, to avenge the deaths of their sisters.
"Those deaths were not my doing."
They're going to kill you, Artemis.
Her voice wavered, almost as if she were second guessing her decision, as if she were fighting the voice inside her head, "I will have to kill them first." And she stepped towards the campsite.
