"Oh my gosh..." I was speechless " You did this for me but how?" In all the time I had know James he was never really the type of guy for keeping secrets. " Well technically it was Mrs B's idea and she told me this morning." James said looking a little bit guilty, I laughed at his expression.
"Thank you, all of you for this" I turned to Mrs B " Sorry about being late I lost track of time I promise to..." she cut me off " Don't worry about it Sarah, it's not every day a girl turns nineteen.." Wow I thought she is being really nice. "But.." There it is, I quickly intervened " But I have to work more to pay it off and don't worry I will." I promised.
" Oh good," Mrs B looked shocked "right then now that is sorted, Get Back To Work!" she yelled and stormed back to the kitchen. Well that's my birthday party done, "Oh come on, don't be like that, work will be done before you know it." James said cheerfully, reading my expression. " I hope your right" I muttered. All I wanted was to get back home and spend the afternoon at the fence and maybe just maybe go to the woods beyond it. A girl could dream.

Two hours later or for me what felt like two years later, we finally got out of the cafe. Even though James's shift finished forty minutes before mine, he stayed behind helping me clean up the tables from the customers and a kid's ninth birthday party. "Could you even believe that kid, he basically screamed the whole time saying he wanted cake and then when he got the cake he said he wanted chocolate not vanilla cheesecake, he didn't even end up eating any of it," I ranted to James on our way to the carpark, " We were never like that, were we?" I turned to see his answer but was met a blank expression, he was staring at me with a sort of a 'look' in his eyes that I couldn't quite figure out. "Are you OK?"I asked, I watched as he slowly came back to life from what ever thinking.
"What? Oh, sorry no, we were never like that." He spurted somehow in the same breath. I looked at him with curiosity, What is with him? The blonde-haired boy that had been my best friend since middle school. " Are you okay?" I asked again looking more closely at his expression, trying figure out his expression, back he was back to normal. "Of course, where were you today,we were waiting for ages." He looked at me with suspicion, hoping I would answer his question. "Oh well, I sort of slept in and forgot about the time, I then ended up running around like a mad man, trying to get to work on time, which didn't end well." I said with a small smile, He shouldn't need to know that I was having a confusing dream about the woods behind my house last night, he would just think I'm weird.
"Oh okay, hey mind if I ride with you today, my car broke down and is at the mechanic's" "Oh, yeah I guess." I said, Dang, I really wanted to go straight to the woods. I quickly hopped in the car before he could decipher the disappointment in my voice, He followed in quickly after me and we started speeding down the road, much to his disliking he had never really understood my passion for speed much, like I never understand why he drives ten under the speed limit, I mean my grandma drives faster than that. I chuckled at the joke in my head, he with a very puzzled expression. I don't want to tell him what I was thinking so I quickly change the subject, "Did you like the party last week?" I asked, James had never been one for parties so this would be interesting.

When I dropped James homes after his rant of parties, I promise to call him as soon as I got home, He always does this now ever since I moved to my Grandparents run down house next to the woods. I tried not to look at my old house while driving but the temptation was to hard, it had been almost a year since my mother passed away and left me with her fortune of my dad's side, the dad that ran off into the woods and never looked back, his parents felt sorry for my mum and me, for I was only six they gave my nearly half off their saving, for my mum couldn't afford to work, they helped my mum out so much it felt like it were her parents instead of my dad's, when they died they had give all their money to mum, she didn't want it so she put it away somewhere, I think in my bank account and forgot about it. We inherited their house to by the woods my mum and I never had much use for it until now, We always lived next to James's house. When she died I felt like I was cursed, all the people loved had either ran away or died, I was left alone. Since the day of her death I have been obsessed with the woods, sure I always thought about them before, with my dad but now I need to find out what was so special about the woods that my dad the one who started my curse, would ran off into them and leave everybody. The urge was to strong tonight it felt like I was being pulled to the woods and It scared me cause I was letting it.
