Actions speak louder than words they say
but isn't it both with a letter?

Writing this letter
to the one always
on my mind...

How should I start?
I can't be too embarrassing
I don't want to humiliate myself
Nothing too awkward...
Maybe I'll make it simple
I can't be too straightforward
I don't want to scare you off

So I get my favorite pen
the one you let me borrow
when we first met
I get paper from a notebook
the one where I put
my stories about you

Do I just say hello?
Maybe stay casual
Take a deep breath
Think about it

Every letter with a slight swirl
Every meaningful word
Straight from the heart
Here is my confession
I'm sorry if I sound too cheesy

I write carefully
Making up words as I go
The paper is halfway...
Do I finish it with a drawing?

I keep writing
Go into detail
the day we met
the day we were
partners in class
bumping into you
in the hallways
writing notes carefully
in the classroom

The paper is full now
I should reread it...
How would they feel
getting a letter like this
from someone like me?
I tried to imagine it...
I hope it goes well

I put it in a white envelope
Your name in the middle
I walk to your house
I needed to think
I knock on the door

And...I hear a laugh.
It wasn't yours.
