For once in a questionably long time, Ruki felt nothing but raw fear.

"Karlheinz-sama. . . ! Why are you attacking me? Don't you think working together to get through this unfavorable situation would be better?" Ruki reasoned with the older male, who was nonchalantly walking towards him, where he was standing on top of a large mountain of supplies gathered into a pile. Karlheinz only smirked at the crestfallen boy's reasonings.

"My boy, these games are not something I take lightly. I've not trained my whole life as a career to be slighted by even you Ruki," Karlheinz spoke in a level tone as his fine-feathered hair bounced around his broad shoulders.

Ruki knew that neither of them had their supernatural abilities, yet he knew fighting someone as powerful and respected as Karlheinz was a poor decision. The boy scrambled down his makeshift throne of miscellaneous boxes and bags, snatching a javelin in his plight.

The Cornucopia was vast, more than one would think. Its metallic, segmented walls stretched out far enough to fit a stadium inside. The dappling sunlight glinted down on Ruki, causing him to squint as he raised his javelin, circling Karlheinz who likewise chuckled at his confident posture all the while removing a machete from his belt.

"Where the did you get that machete anyway? You ran straight for the trees when the games started," Ruki asked out of anguished curiosity.

"Lets just say, I have my connections."

Ruki scowled at the snarky comment, any former ties he had with this man were quickly vanishing. If that's how he wants to play so be it. My top priority is to get out of here alive. Karlheinz paced in a slow, languid circle, eyes curled and hackles raised. He was well trained in physical combat, there was no way Ruki would be able to overpower him.

"What's the matter, Ruki~ Don't tell me you're intimidated? What happened to that dominating personality of yours, nfu~"

"You sound just like that perverted son of yours."

After a moment's hesitation, Ruki surged forward with surprising precision, seeking an opening between Karl's defense. The javelin went straight for his stomach, attempting to puncture a lung. Karl anticipated this though and swerved out of reach just in time to grab ahold of the dark-haired vampire's wielding arm and twist. The other vampire immediately released his javelin, letting it clatter to the ground. While in his weakened state, Karl threw Ruki like a ragdoll against the hard shell of the Cornucopia with a loud bang.

"uUAUAAAAAAAHck" Ruki fell to the floor clutching his arm as the Vampire King loomed over him. The cold metal blade of Karlheinz's machete pressed against Ruki's neck as his completely unhinged face leaned down to croon in his ear.

"Checkmate, Ruki-kun."

The machete swung down in a sea of crimson towards Ruki's heart.

"STOP!!" a loud voice shrieked out.

"Ruki are you okay?!"

Meanwhile, District 8 tribute Loki Laevatein, the former God of Fire, began to see hallucinations of his earlier near death experience. His sanity began to come undone by thoughts of bears.
