The howl of a wolf was heard in the dead of night, as it caught the scent of its next meal.
A young female was running through the woods trying to escape the impending doom that was coming upon her.
As she ran the fear was evident in her eyes, for she knew that she had wondered to far from home and into unknown surroundings and got lost.
She knew for a fact that if she didn't find a safe place away from the wolf or find her way home soon, she was done for. For the wolf is the hunter, and she was chosen to be his next meal.
Eventually she came into a clearing, with a lone weeping willow in the center in the middle of the of the forest. She ran to the willow tree and attempted to climb it, but each time she tried she would fall back down.
Then she heard a low growl come from behind her. She turned around to see the wolf at the edge of the clearing. Even though the wolf was only fifty five feet away, she still backed up onto the trunk of the weeping willow.
The only thought that was going through her head was 'This is it. I'm done for.'
She then started to frantically look around for any means of escape, but she kept the wolf in her peripheral vision. She started to cower back in fear as she watched the wolf slowly approach her, until it stopped about a foot away from her.
As the wolf crouched down getting ready to attack she pressed herself even closer to the tree in fear. But right before the wolf attacked everything went dark.
It was almost as if... it was the saving darkness she had been waiting for, to protect her from the wolf.
