Chapter Five

"No. I told you, we're just friends. How do you know that text was even meant for me? He has a girlfriend, and he disappeared last night for about a half hour. Maybe he left to go fuck her." Zack blurted out, completely lying.

Matt looked at Zack with eyebrows raised, he knew that Brian didn't have a girlfriend. "Oh come on, you know that's not true. Why would you leave your friend leave in the middle of the night when they're sleeping over?" His uncle asked.

"And if he sent it to the wrong person, he would have realized it by now." His cousin laughed.

"Wait, boyfriend, you're gay?" His other cousin asked, almost in disgust.

"Yes" Zack replied back shyly.

"How long have you known?"

"A few years" Zack said. Tears had now started to form in his eyes. He was so embarrassed and the anxiety had rose in him so badly.

"Hey, come here" Matt said and pulled Zack outside. When they got outside Matt pulled Zack into a tight hug.

Zack completely broke down in Matt's arms. Matt stood there, holding him, trying to relax him.

"Zacky?" Brian yelled from just down the road. Zack's head snapped up and he saw Brian running towards him.

Zack left Matt's tight grip and ran into Brian's arms. Brian wrapped his arms tightly around the smaller male.

He tried calming the crying boy down, and he was slowly getting somewhere with it.

"Zack?" They heard his mom say from the doorway. Zack turned his head slightly to see his mom.

"Why don't you come back inside honey? And we'll talk about this." His mom suggested.

"No" Zack pouted and held onto Brian tighter and cried harder.

"Brian can come in too." His mom said.

"Come on baby, I'll be with you. I won't let you go." Brian said to Zacky in a soft voice as he wiped some of Zacky's tears off his face. He nodded and let out a shaky breath to try and regain himself.

Brian, Zack and Matt walked back inside after a minute or so. Zack clung to Brian for comfort. Tears weren't making their way down Zack's anymore, but he was still scared.

"Who's this?" Zack's Aunt asked, Zack held Brian tighter, to which Brian rubbed his back lightly.

"This is Brian" Zack's mom replied. Zack's cousin -the one who asked if he was gay- giggled slightly. Zack buried his face in Brian's chest and let a tear slip down his cheek.

"It's okay" Brian whispered to Zack as he wiped the tear from his cheek.

"I w-wanna sit" Zack mumbled to Brian in a shaky voice.

"Okay" Brian said softly and pulled Zack over to sit down on the couch and sat beside him.

"Brian, I got to say though, you have amazing timing." Mr. Baker said.

"How, d-did you even k-know?" Zack asked Brian.

"Matt texted me" Brian said, Zack looked over to Matt who smiled.
