I sit down at the dark wood dinner table, the feeling of the leather chairs pressing against my legs as I greet my father and brother, discussing FC Seoul's win the night prior. As they rave about Park Chu Young's goal, my mother places the soondae bokum, gimbop, and mandoo on the deep red tablecloth. My father and brother say thank you to my mother as they begin to devour the delicious looking food. Losing myself in thought as I admire my family and their imperfections, my mother puts large amounts of food on my plate and gestures for me to eat quickly before my father and brother eat it all. Ending the appetizing meal, my mother brings out tteok for dessert. I race my brother for who can grab the pink ball first-
Putting an end to my gratifying dream, I hear a knock at the door. Looking at the clock next to my bed, it reads 4:36 AM. Forcing myself to get out of bed, I walk to the door to see who could possibly be bothering me at this horrendous time. Opening the door, I see Luhan standing impatiently in a navy, thousand dollar suit,
"Well? What are you waiting for?" the pink haired man rolls his eyes as I show no response, "A great assassin doesn't sleep in. Get to the sniping range and show me your newly obtained skills."
"Sleeping in?" I roll my eyes, "It's 4 AM."
Luhan simply ignores my comment as he pushes me out of the way to my closet. Opening the doors, Luhan refrains from hiding his disgusted look,
"Sweatpants and hoodies... Tragic." grabbing my clothes and throwing them in the nearest trash can, Luhan continues, "We'll have to go to Inferno's suit tailor and get you some proper clothes."
Annoyed and slightly embarrassed, I reply, "Sorry Luhan, but I can't afford a thousand dollar suit like everyone else here, I'm just a college drop out barely making it in the economy."
Luhan lets out a chuckle, annoying me even more as he replies, "Oh you have no idea do you..." looking at my unamused face, he continues, "Inferno is the richest business in the country. Even the government asks us for favors. Now that you are one of us, you won't have to pay for anything again."
Walking out the door, I follow Luhan like a puppy, listening intently as he shows me all the incredible affairs this building has to offer. Ranging from shooting ranges and boxing cages, to small cafes selling macarons and tea. After climbing three grand staircases and walking down a long hallway consisting of a shoe store, nature republic, and a nail salon, we finally end up in front of the suit tailor. A woman at the door greets Phantom, simply ignoring me, she guides us to the back of the store behind mahogany curtains. We see a man admiring a slip of silky dark grey cloth, hearing us enter he turns around,
"Phantom, a pleasure to see you. How may I help you?" The man says in a thick Italian accent
"It's not for me actually, it's for my pupil, Sehun. He will be joining me on missions. Treat him as if he were me." Luhan says as he turns around and walks out of the mahogany curtains,
I stand in front of the man baffled, unaware of what to say,
"Ah, Sehun, let's see..." I stand uncomfortably as the man studies me, "Maroon. Yes. You will look marvellous in maroon."
The man grabs a maroon suit and black dress shirt, pushing me into the changing room. I come out of the room having to hold my pants up,
"Yikes... Do not worry, I will fix that." The man says as he grabs thread and a needle and begins to poke at my waist.
In nearly three minutes he is finished and I am able to wear my pants properly. Next he starts on the suit jacket, bored out of my mind I scan the room. Hundreds of scraps of fabric cover every surface, the man had oil paintings of peacocks hanging on the blood red walls of the room. Cutting off my thoughts the man yells done and rushingly pushes me outside the mahogany curtains, not even sparing a simple goodbye. I enter the room to see Luhan with champagne in his hand, flirting with the same girl who led us to the back room. I walk up to him and poke him in the centre of his back,
"Now you look worthy of my attention" Luhan says cockily, he turns back to the woman as he says, "make sure your boss has Sehun's closet filled with suits by the end of the day."
Not sparing the woman another look, Luhan walks out of the door.
"Who was that guy?" I ask, "he never even introduced himself to me."
"Don't remember," Luhan shrugs off, "I don't care what the names are of those who are lower than me. Don't have time for it."
Taken aback by Luhan's comment, I finally reply,
"I can't believe you would have the nerve to be so rude," Luhan chuckles as I continue,"that man does a kind gesture as to give you free, beautifully made suits and you can't even remember his name?"
"You only need to remember the names of those who are above you, Sehun." Luhan stops walking as he continues, "The mafia business doesn't run on kindness, it runs on power. You can not gain power if no one respects you."
"How can anyone respect you if you act like such a god damn prick all the time" I retort back
"I am the best god damn assassin Inferno has ever seen. If you have a problem with that then become better than me. You do things your way and I'll do them mine. Let's see who comes out at the top." Luhan says, the intensity clear in his eyes.
"Game on, Phantom." I reply back as I leave Luhan to go and get more practice in at the shooting range. I'll become even better of an assassin than Phantom, I think to myself. I'll train as hard as I can until there's no one left in Inferno that doesn't respect me.
