Safe Zone

Dad Cimorelli's Pov.

a big tall wall laid ahead.  stretching out for miles.  we were at the safe zone.  i stopped the car in front of the wall.  it was dark out, proably just passed midnight.  

"hey guys, we are here"  i tell everyone. "wake up"  

everyone opens their eyes. "where are we?" nick asks and then yawns.

"we are at the safe zone"  i get out of the car.

all six of us walk to the massive gate.  i knock on it. "hello?"  

click. i heard to loading of many guns above us.  i look above us to see a few guards aiming their guns at us.  "who are you!?" a guard hollers.

"we are people looking for shelter, and our families are in there!!" lindsey hollers back.

they talk amoungst themselves before opening the gate.  we catiously walk in.  once we get a few feet from the gate they close it and greet us with more guns pointed at us.  

"come this way"  they march us throught the town.  it was full of people.  everyone glared at us.  

i search for my family as we went along, the kids did too.  we were brought onto a platform in the middle of the town.  people gathered around to see what was going on.  a man walked on and the gaurds stepped back.

"it seems like there are outsiders trying to get in" he announced.  "everyone knows they could be carrying the virus with them, and we cant take the risk of infecting the zone." he continued.  he gave a signal to the gaurds and they raised their guns once again. 

"woah!  this is crazy!  you guys were once out there like us!" lindsey protested. "whats wrong with you?"

pow! a bullet went through lindsey's chest.  she fell to the ground.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!  LINDSEY!!!!"  sarah ran to her , fell to her knees and screamed.  tears poured down her face.

i looked at my kids, they too were crying. i rushed to sarahs side and brought her into a hug.  

"its for the safety of the town" the man pulled out his own gun.  he aimed it at the closest person, lauren.  

"no, please" i begged.  i stood up leaving sarah crying on the ground so i could help lauren.

he settled his fingure on the trigger. lauren backed up a little, fear was all over her face.  then all of the gaurds turned on the man.  they all had their guns aimed at him.  "we cant let you do this"  one said. "we are done with your crazy orders." pow! and the man falls dead.

the crowd was silent.  i grab my kids and hug them.  they were shaking.  

"Sarah!"  a women yelled.  the women pushed throught the crowd and made her way on the platform.  

"mom!" sarah ran to her and hugged her.  a man and boy ran to them and joined too.  that must be their family.  it quickly turned sad when they realized the girl that got shot was their daughter.  they gathered around her, crying.  

i turned my attention to the crowd, they started to go their own ways.   "come on" i told my kids as we searched the town for lynne, tommy and the others.

we went to the house part of the town, it was not the best conditions but it was better than nothing.  we looked at each house. finally i saw a girl and two boys running around the street.  but it was okay because their was no cars in the zone.   

"dani!" lauren shouted and ran for the girl.

"christian! joey!"nick screamed as he ran to them.  alex and i followed.  we hugged for a long time.

"mike? lauren? alex? nick?" a familiar voice questioned.  i looked at the entrance to a house to see lynne standing there.  

"lynne..." i walked over to her and hugged her.  

"we thought you died"  she cried.  

we all went into the house they had been staying in and saw the other kids again.

"wheres uncle tommy?" alex asked.

"hes in the shopping area getting food."  lynne replied.

i quess this is where we are going to live now on.  im just glad to be back with my family.
