After the dejection settled in, I excused myself promptly from the blue eye'd man in front of me.
When I returned, I was hit by Xael's excitement. "He's it for you. I promise; he's the one. I can already imagine your dates, and then prom, and then the dress, and, and, and the wedding! Oh my Gosh, we can't forget the wedding!" Xael gushed while she jumped around in joy. I only wish that I could join her.
"Cobalt's out," I murmured.
"What are you talking about? Why would he be?" She looked at me disbelief. I raised an eyebrow at her.
"It doesn't really matter. Besides, there's two more choices. Easier for me to choose, right?" I smiled at her.
"He's not gay, I promise."
I looked at her as if she grew another head. "How did you get to that conclusion?"
She shrugged. "I said the first thing that popped to my head."
"That will get you killed one day," I said to her, nodding as if I believed my own words. And I did, to a point, at least.
"If getting killed makes you admit why Cobalt can't be your the one, then I'd gladly jump in front of a moving train," She said with utmost sincerity. I stuck my face towards hers until there was only two inches separating us before looking at her straight in the eyes. She didn't even move an inch. Probably because if she did, we would've had a reenactment of all the kissing scenes in the world. But there's a twist! It's gone wrong. Very wrong.
"Blue eyes, Xael. He has blue eyes."
She furrowed her brows. "Fuck the blue eyes! What if you just saw wrong? I mean, you didn't just stare off at his eyes afterwards, right?"
"I might have," I admitted awkwardly. She face palmed herself and tsked.
She scratched her cheek and said dejectedly, "So Ryven and Levi left?"
I sighed. "I guess so."
"You sound like you don't want to let go of Cobalt," Xael stated smugly. I gave her a look before rolling my eyes.
"Even if I go after him, I know we're not going to last. It's absolutely futile," I shrugged again.
She grabbed my shoulders. "Stop! Don't think of the future now. Live in the present. Besides, if he really isn't the one, then at least you have experience?" She ended, almost like she was asking a question.
"Why would I want to waste my time? We were given these fragments so that it would be easier for us eliminate-" She covered my mouth in frustration.
"Shut up. First of all, don't use the term eliminate like we're in math class, okay? I have enough of math everyday. Second of all, just why? I swear to God. Just be like Nike, you know? Just do it. No questions asked."
"This is why a lot of people die. They don't think of their actions," I nodded at my words.
"I will hurt you."
I grinned at her annoyance. I absolutely love riling her up.
"Are we going to start our studies or are we going to continue talking about my troublesome love life?" She looked at me like I was crazy.
"Your troublesome love life, of course! Who in their right mind would want to talk about school when something as juicy as this is present?" She grinned.
I raised my hand like I was reciting in class. "Me! Me! Me! Pick me!" I squirmed excitedly.
"Idiot," She said, slapping me upside on the head. I pouted in reply.
