A Good Stupid Day

Michael froze as he read the last few words. Especially the last.

Luke

His secret admirer, the one who had sent him all those small letters, had been his blonde best friend all along?

Michael wasn't sure how he should feel about this, because even if Luke had promised in the letters that it wasn't a joke, now Michael knew it was Luke it just seemed logical for it to be a stupid prank.

Biting his lips harshly, the letter still in his hands, he turned around. He wanted to go to his bunk to take all the letters (he had saved them all) and throw them out. Burn them even.

But, as he was turned around, he noticed someone standing near him, making him look up slowly. And surely, there stood the blonde he had thought of not even seconds ago.

Michael took Luke in, from his usual black jeans, to his baseball shirt with the stars (one he hadn't worn for a while, but Michael had always loved). His lipring was almost hidden in the blonde's mouth as he nervously played with it, his hands behind his back and his hair down and flat.

"Hi," Luke softly spoke, taking in Michael. He noticed with a smile that Michael had dyed his hair lilac, like Luke had once written to be his favourite. It even matched the lilac (fake) rose he held behind his back. And other than that, Michael was dressed in some dark blue jeans for a change, a black band shirt on.

"Luke..." Michael's voice was soft and broke, his eyes a little shiny from tears that threatened to come up. The lilac haired boy was so scared that it was all a joke. That Valentine's Day really was just a stupid day.

"Will you?" Luke spoke, revealing the rose and holding it out to Michael. It made the lilac haired boy's heart skip a beat. Luke hadn't been joking and he was dead serious.

Michael couldn't be happier.

"Yes," he breathed out softly, tears prickling in his eyes, but now from happiness instead of sadness, his stomach filled with those so called butterflies. He had never felt this with the blonde before, but he was sure he liked this. And Luke. He definitely liked Luke.

"Thank God," Luke muttered, not meant to speak loud enough for Michael to hear, but he did. Michael simply chuckled, finally taking the rose from the blonde, holding it to his chest.

"Eh, so, you wanna, like, go? Start the date? Like, yeah..." Luke's cheeks flushed a soft shade of pink as he looked down in embarrassment. Michael just smiled, "sure."

Luke looked up quickly, smiling as he saw his Valentine smile. He then held out his hand for Michael to take, smiling even wider as he did.

The blonde lead them both towards the movie room in the house, confusing Michael a little. But, he kept quiet and let Luke lead him, because all would be clear eventually.

Luke stopped in the movie room, closing the door behind them. Michael gasped as he saw that the movie room had sort of gotten a make-over.

The large couches that had been in front of the huge TV-screen had been pushed to the sides, one lining the wall to the left and the other the wall to the right. In the middle, in front of the screen, was a two-seater that was in the form of a heart. It seemed a bit like a combination of a beanbag and jelly.

Scattered in front of their feet were rose petals (lilac ones, of course) and a vase of lilac roses was besides the screen, filling up the corner there.

Everything was just so... so lilac and rosy. And Michael absolutely loved it.

"I hope it's not too much," Luke shyly mumbled, looking at Michael -who, mind you, was still holding onto his hand and holding the rose with his other hand.

"It's amazing," Michael breathed out, turning to Luke with a wide smile and once again, teary eyes. "So far, this is definitely the best Valentine's Day ever."

Luke smiled even wider than Michael did (if possible) and squeezed his hand, before carefully pulling the lilac haired boy towards the two-seater. He let himself fall into it, it indeed being like a beanbag. Michael did the same, as he got tugged down by the blonde, and smiled as he comfortably sat besides Luke.

"Now, I have some movies that we can watch, but if you have any suggestions, don't hesitate," Luke said, clicking on the TV with the remote that had been lying on the ground besides him. Michael nodded and pulled his feet onto the seater, cuddling into the blonde's side carefully.

Luke smiled down at the lilac haired boy, pulling him a little closer and resting his hand on his bare upper arm. Michael smiled at the warmth the blonde was giving off, lying his head on the blonde's shoulder and watching Luke put on Valentine's Day.

Michael snorted at the choice, but smiled as the blonde gave him a pout. In a moment of boldness, Michael leaned up and pressed a soft kiss to Luke's pouty lips.

Luke froze, but then smiled and pecked Michael's lips in return, not able to stop smiling after that.

"I should've organised a 'I hate Valentine's Day party', now I think of it. Would've made that stupid day a whole lot more fun, I guess." Michael randomly spoke, as the film was starting. Luke simply chuckled, rubbing his hand up and down Michael's arm slowly. "I would've joined you, just to be with you, you know?"

Michael rose his eyebrows at the blonde, "really now?"

Luke hummed. "I've been in love with you longer than you think and longer than I would like to admit."

At those words, Michael felt his heart swell with love. Luke, the blonde dorky idiotic best friend, had loved him longer than just... well, not long ago? It made Michael's head spin lightly as his heart thumped happily, along with the butterflies filling his stomach. And he definitely couldn't stop smiling.

"Well, now you've got me." The lilac haired boy whispered, cuddling as close as possible to his lover, still smiling widely.

"Not officially, yet," Luke smiled as he added that last word, already planning how to ask Michael to be his.

"Official or not," Michael spoke softly, eyes on the movie, but mind with the blonde that was subconsciously tracing circles on Michael's arm, "you've still got me."

"And I'm glad I do," Luke answered, speaking just as soft, as if the moment would disappear otherwise.

Both smiled as they held the other, the movie playing and lights from it dancing on the two of them, as the rest of the room was dark.

"Do you still hate Valentine's Day?" Luke quietly asked, his one hand now playing with one of Michael's, as the other was resting on his arm again.

"I still think it's a stupid day with unnecessary attention to love that should be shown any day," Michael mumbled, looking up and waiting for Luke's reaction.

"But what does that make today?" Luke asked, frowning a little. But as soon as Michael spoke again, it turned into the widest smile from that day.

"A good stupid day."
