"How do you think he knows?" Kaiya whispered, sounding worried.
Jinx shrugged.
"Probably a lucky guess. What scares me...he said "don't mess with powers you don't understand". You don't think..."
Kaiya shook her head.
"No. That's impossible. He's a freaking K-pop idol for god's sake. He's not a vampire!"
Jinx sighed.
"I guess you're right. Normal vampires wouldn't put themselves in such a public situation..."
Suddenly Jinx's bedroom door burst open and her father flew in. He grabbed Jinx's hair and pulled her up. He threw her across the room, and Jinx screamed.
"What have I told you about using your potions and your powers?!" Jinx's father yelled angrily.
Jinx swallowed.
"F-Father..."
Kaiya cut across her, quickly.
"Mr Song, it was my idea. Please, don't hurt Jinx, or punish her. I was just so angry at B-Joo..."
A mistake. She shouldn't have mentioned their victims name.
"B-Joo?!" Mr Song screamed. "It was B-Joo?"
"Y-You didn't know?" Kaiya whispered.
"No!"
Jinx bit her lip.
"Look, father, he's a jerk. He deserved it. He made May cry again..."
Mr Song sighed and he sat down on his daughter's bed.
"I know he's a jerk, Jinx. But he's a very powerful young man, from an even more powerful family. Can't you just stay out of it? I'm proud that you've decided to stick up for what you believe in but...does it have to involve B-Joo? Or, as a matter of fact, any of ToppDogg?"
"And here I was thinking you were just jealous that I'm the Golden Vampire and you're not..." Jinx muttered.
The golden vampire, if you're wondering, is only ever born every 20,000 years. And Jinx was that vampire. The Golden Vampire is the most powerful vampire in the world...well...except for the Shadow Vampire. This vampire is born every 20,500, and, every now and then, the Golden Vampire and the Shadow Vampire's paths cross. When this happens, one must die, otherwise they will both be exiled from the Vampire land.
"What? No! Of course...I'd rather you not overthrow your old dad yet. He's still got a few more years of ruling left in him. Look, my beautiful daughter, a few years ago, do you remember when I arranged a marriage for you?"
"Yes, I didn't speak to you for 2 years." Jinx nodded.
"Well...it's time you met him. And...if you marry him, Jinx...our family will no longer be in danger, and we do not have to fear being overthrown by the other side, any longer. Jinx, it's up to you whether you want to do this for your family but...here, I have a letter from your mother. She was the one who chose the one she wanted you to marry." Mr Song said quietly, avoiding his daughter's eyes.
Jinx swallowed. She knew that her mother had desperately wanted Jinx to be a princess...and not the warrior she was. Mrs Song had died when Jinx was 9, and she remembered her mother vividly. Jinx took the letter and her father left, leaving his daughter and her best friend sitting in silence.
"I forgot about the marriage...I mean, what's so special about it, anyway? My mother wanted so badly for me to be the perfect daughter...but I was always fighting with the boys...I never had a boyfriend...it just wasn't my thing. Aish...I don't know what to do, Kaiya..." Jinx whispered.
Kaiya took a deep breath.
"Most vampire's are set up for an arranged marriage...even me. But...maybe you should read your mother's letter before you decide? This doesn't seem like you, Jinx. I mean...it would help your family...and our side of the vampire war...we would be safe, but...but I don't want you to be unhappy. I don't want this to scare you but, Jinx, the fate of the Vampire's is in your hands."
Jinx swallowed, scared. She was hardly ever scared. But she had no clue how this would unfold. She didn't even know who the man was. Jinx slowly opened the dusty, brown envelope and pulled out the creamy white letter. To my beautiful daughter, Jinx,
If you're reading this, then your father has just reminded you of your arranged marriage. You should be 19 years old in human years and...extremely confused. Am I right? Normally, royalty in the vampire world does not get married by arrangement. But, this is an exception. This marriage...will help our side in the war...we will be protected by your fiancé's family, and we will, hopefully, win this awful war. I chose this young man because of the following reasons....
1. He was the sweetest boy I've ever met.
2. He's intelligent and has the perfect characteristics of a vampire.
3. He's a very, very powerful young man, with a rich family.
And most of all,
4. I know he can protect you properly.
These aren't the main reasons why I chose the young man I did. But trust me, Jinx, I have my reasons. You may be thinking, "I don't need a man". Well, no, you don't. But we do. Please, my amazing daughter, do the right thing. From your loving mother,
xxJinx bowed her head, a tear falling from her dark, chocolate brown eyes.
"Looks like I'm getting married...aish, I'm too young for this crap!"
Kaiya bit her lip.
"I can't say don't do it, Jinx...because...because..."
"You don't want to die. I understand." Jinx said softly, smiling at her friend sadly.Jinx took a deep breath, and knelt down at her father's feet. He sat on his throne, and everyone in the hall turned to stare at the unusual sight. Even Mr Song looked surprised.
"J-Jinx...?"
"I'll do it. I'll do it for the people...for you...for mother. Just...as long as when I meet him...he agrees to some rules." Jinx said quietly, meeting her father's eyes.
"Are....are you sure?" Mr Song asked.
"Yes. As long as, like I said, he agrees to the rules." Jinx said softly.
Mr Song stood up, laughing.
"Everyone! Prepare a feast! My daughter is getting married!"Two Day Later...
Jinx sat on the velvet chair, her head in her hands.
Is this really happening? Am I getting married? What if this guy tries to hurt me? What if he's a real jerk?
"Jinx, he's here." Mr Song whispered in his daughter's ear.
Jinx kept her eyes tightly shut and she could hear the young man sliding into the seat opposite her at the table. Jinx swallowed.
"You can open your eyes now." The man drawled.
Jinx knew that voice. She's heard it before but...no...it couldn't be. Her eyes snapped open and there, sitting opposite her, was Kim Hansol.
