As a veteran roleplayer, here is my advice of things to avoid in your roleplaying journey.

1. Text Talk, improper Grammar, and Punctuation.

Anyone who chooses Wattpad, a writing and book-centered website, to roleplay, should know how to create understandable and proper sentence. If you're going to Role-Play, you should put some effort into to it. What I mean is truly write when you Role-Play. Role-Play is almost exactly like writing a story. So, write a story.

2. Romance Obsession.

Not everyone who roleplays want to roleplay romance. Some people just find it fun to explore other people's character creations, and to make friends along the way. Don't limit yourself to romance, and most importantly, don't assume that everyone will want to roleplay romance. Many people put a lot of work into creating complex and fleshed out characters, and only seeing their characters as something to play pretend boyfriend with can be seen as inconsiderate and rude. Have conversations with your fellow roleplayer beforehand.

3. God-Modding.

When you're Role-Playing, don't expect people to treat your character like a god(Unless, of course, they are). So when you are Role-Playing, your character is not an invincible being who can never be touched. You should aim to be at least a bit realistic.

If my character punches your character in the face, take the hit. Chances are, you're not seeing it coming, so neither should your character. Your character is most likely not a master at everything, so be a good sport and engage with the excitement.

4. Mary Sues(Perfect OC's).

Character creation is the most time-consuming part of being a roleplayer. Making a character with no flaws, perfect skill, and ultimate success, can be seen as lazy and uninteresting. Hardly anyone likes to roleplay with a character who is absolutely perfect, no matter how nice they are.

When making a character, you should think about their personality first, add a normal amount of quirks, weaknesses, and ticks, and you've got yourself a normal, good character, interesting character. These are what make roleplay the most fun.

5. Cliches.

Be creative with your character creation and your story telling. As creative as you can be.

Good luck friends!
