I awoke to the sound of raindrops quietly drumming against my bedroom window 

Today was the day that I had been dreading for weeks 

For it was Tuesday and I was chosen to show the new kid around school 'Thanks,'  I had thought when my name was called 'pick the kid that can't even read something in front of the class, very logical.' 

Sighing, I slipped out of my bed and got my things together

Before going Into the bathroom to get ready I checked my phone seeing a text from my best friend Nathan, I smiled slightly while reading it 

Nate: Good morning beautiful.

Nathan was always a person that I could go to and he could make feel been better when I was at my worse, he understood me and all my insecurities.

 ➳   ➳   ➳ 

I was now in the bathroom, standing in front of my mirror I just a bra and sweatpants.

My eyes scan over my disgusting figure slowly looking at the jagged fresh scars that cover my stomach 

The longer I keep on staring the more I begin to hate myself until the thoughts begin that will some day be the end of me 

You will never be good enough!

Who could ever have feelings for someone as fat and ugly as you?

It goes on until I break, quickly grabbing my blade and adding fresh cuts tears by now are streaming down my face 

I then turn on the shower and stand under the stream letting the warm water run over my throbbing body.

 ➳ ➳ ➳ 

Nathan had texted me at last minute apologizing for not being able to drive me to school, so I was stuck having to walk to school by myself. 

I didn't mind, the cold. The bitterness of the snowflakes colliding with my skin makes me feel a sense of.. Peace?

I quietly jog up the stairs to the entrance of my school, ignoring the stares and murmurs coming from groups of friends crowded in the hallway 

Quickly shoving my way through everyone. I quietly mumble 'excuse me'  to them, until I get through most of them and I see Nathan standing with his group of friends wearing his usual attire, He had a beanie with black skinny jeans just like most of his other friends. 

I wrapped my arms around Nate telling him good morning and than I proceed too nod to the others until my eyes landed on someone who I didn't recognize awkwardly standing on the other side of Nathan with his eyes on me 

'Oh no' I thought 'is there something wrong with me? It it my hair?' I wondered, running my hands through my dark brown hair fixing it

Nathan than noticed the stare down that was going on between us too and motioned to the person next to him "Addisyn, this is Luke. He's pretty shy you two should get along pretty well." He said and winked at me making my face go red 

"Hi." I mumboed shyly giving him a small smile than looked down at the ground 

After we all go our separate ways, I walk to my locker and while I'm unlocking it feel a light tap on my right shoulder 

"Yes?" I snapped, irritated because I had just wanted to get to class without any interruptions. 

Turning around my face softens seeing Luke standing stiffly behind me with his bag in his hand 

"Um.." He said, supprizingly with a thick accent and awkwardly rubbing his hand behind his neck "they didn't give me a locker so, I was wondering if I could leave my stuff in your's?" I nodded as he set his bag in it and moved out of my way 

"Do you know where you're classes are?" I asked and looked at the schedule that he had tightly gripped in his hand 

"To be honest," he said and chuckled "not at all"

"Alright I'll show you" I said while closing the locker and began to walk to his first class with him.

They day had actually went by pretty quick

Luke was already waiting at the locker when I got there, giving me a small smile.

"How was you're first day?" I asked while putting in the combination and opened up the door 

"It was pretty good, the people where alright." He said, leaning into my locker supprizingly close to me 

Was he trying to flirt?

No he would never go for anyone like you. 

"Would you mind if I walked you home?" He asked hopefully and smiled big making me giggle 

"Oh my gosh" I said throwing my hands over my mouth, that was embarrassing. 

"Dont worry" he said with a smirk "you're really cute when you do that"

I feel my cheeks heat up and I quickly look away trying to seem like something had caught my attention down the hall

"Yes" I said turning back to him "I would love that."

My house was just a couple of blocks away from the school so it wasn't a very long rout.

We had stopped at a park just on the other side of the block from my house that was separated by trees 

He had told me about him self mostly, I restrained from telling him things because of the wall that I had built up and had decided that I would never get too close to anyone because they just wil lend up stabbing you in the back. 

After my phone begins to start buzzing rapidly in my pocket 

It was a text from my mother,

Once I read it I was  immediately sent into a panic attack 

"I-I gotta go.." I said quickly grabbing my things and ran into the trail starting for my house "thank you Luke!"
